A friend of mine that plays Tau was, like most other Tau players, excitedly following the rumour of a huge armoured suit.
When the images finally came, his disappointment could be audiobly heard, like it could from many other Tau players.
The Riptide is not pretty.

So he got out some clay and decided to make his own.
I give you the Riptide Flea.

The bulk is hand made, details are purloined from other Tau craft. It does fit on a base, and will be placed on one, but as the base is not garnished yet, I left it out of the photos.

NOTE: This is not mine. My friend is not a dakkanaut, and I felt you guys would want some pictures.

Doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look very "Tau" to me.

I mean, one of the major issues with the Riptide to begin with is that it's just a big battlesuit, which doesn't really make sense, considering that anything bigger than that would be better served as a skimmer/flyer/hover thing of some sort. Sure, it looks like a Tau craft, but it just doesn't make sense as one. But where the official Riptide model fails on that level, this one just doesn't really make me think of Tau when I look at it.

I think it looks neat. I don't know what the Riptide's rules are, so I can't comment on whether or not its looks suitably represent what it can do.
