i want to include a unit of flash gitz in my army but wondered what peoples feedback on them was. are they worth the high point cost to field them ? and what success have people had with them. looking at their entry in the Ork codex there they have the capability of a decent amount of high strength fire and with a nob profile and possibility of a painboy their pretty hardy in close combat. bottom line is do you consider flash gitz to be worthy of a ork army ?

They are slightly better before, with their ability to ignore cover. I personally like them, though I do admit they are a bit pricy.

Give a try for yourself, but be sure to have the painboy so they last a bit longer.

The short answer is yes and no; like anything else GW it depends if you're playing fun or competitive.

In math-hammer; they're terrible. Even if they weren't overcosted they take up a valuable HS slot that could go to something much killy-er. If you play for fluff or modeling; they and the Kaptin can be a visually striking, fun, and rarely tabled choice. It really depends on what you're looking for.

(Then again, if GW follows practice, they'll be the best choice in the new codex next year and be given a 30% retail price raise, so it might not be too terrible to have some now.)

Yeah, the fact they are in the HS section baffles me; shouldn't they be elites? They don't have heavy weapons, and they certainly don't churn out that many shots.

Don't buy all of the upgrades. It's tempting, but that is what really drives the points cost up. I used to give mine (in 5th) shootier and a trukk. They are a fun unit but as you spend more points on them, you get more attached to them and more upset when they aren't as good as the points you spent one them.

I love when my little plastic men get my emotions going. Besides, it's space orks. How cool is that?

For the love of Mork (or Gork?) though, give them the +1 shots upgrade at least. The rest is optional but that one doubles their firepower for a 20% price hike

Have them shoot a quad gun. Fun times with their Ignore cover rule (Good thing it isn't just on the guns they're carrying).
