Hello all war gammers,

I am making an apocalypse table for me and some friends (table is 4x16). I was wondering if anyone can give me some input on making this table? I will post my progress once I start. I was debating between a 6x16 or a 4x16 with 2 - 1x16 "dead zones" which will basically be a foot long shelf running the entirety of the table, with 2 shelfs on it. There will be 2 of those, one on either side of the table.

The Table must be strong and portable. Any advice would help.
Attached is what I think my table will look like.

Thanks for your input!

Bigger is always better with Apocalypse.

My club generally plays on 8x8 or 6x12 tables. 4ft is pretty narrow for Apocalypse, in my opinion.

the only reason i was going for a 4x16 was for access to the middle of the table. I appreciate the insight, and will consider it greatly.

I'd recommend 6' depth as well. You'll find that 6' isn't that bad for access.

Also shoot for larger terrain than you'd find in your normal games. Things high enough to obscure or even shield a scout titan are very handy and make the game feel like Apoc.

Here is a thread I made about making an Apoc Table. My table ended up being 12' x 6', and the 6' width was fine for getting to the middle. It also gives you a lot more space for deployment.

In terms of construction, making the table in sections is the natural answer. Full sheets of polystyrene can be used so there are no visible gaps, but even a thick piece of fabric will work.

Stream. Very nice table. The only two improvements I would make based on the pictures you put up:

1.) Some LOS blocking terrain. Once you get a player bringing more than a single D-Str weapon with any sort of range, you'll realize that LOS blocking terrain is necessary in Apoc to not be dominated by these 'templates of repack your troops' D-Str represent.

2.) More Mountain Dew. One cube and three 12-packs will not suffice. More Dew.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the replies, everyone

What I ended up doing is getting some 4x8 sheets of styrofoam cut into 2x2 foot sections. These 2x2 sections are placed on 2x4 foot sections of cheap plywood from home depot. I can make the table into any size needed, whether it be 4 or 6 feet... Here is the breakdown from top to bottom:

Top
Models
Terrain
2x2 foot foam tiles
2x4 foot plywood sections (these helped with balance, as the 2x2's can fall when loaded with a lot of models)
Folding tables
Ground
Bottom

I also spray painted the folding tables, so that I can play smaller games and not need to pack a lot of stuff in my car.

Thanks again for the input!

Glad it all worked out, Yugioh.
