So just finished another GT this weekend, a very fun event and a chance to batch up with freinds from other areas.
But this year is getting really weird.
In this event (playing IG) I fought 5 rounds. My matchups went as follows:
Sisters of Battle: Lots of flamers and melta which is bad for IG. Single objective where the Saint camps out and keeps coming back.
Sister of Battle with DA allies: Lots of Flamers and melta...and a Land raider/Terminator deathstar that needs killing. And the Saint that I just tar-pitted with Ogryn.
Sisters of Battle: Lots of Seraphim with flamers and Melta. Joy. And the Saint...who camped out on my home objective and flamed both the Platoon and CCS to death.
Space Marines: Vulkan Hestan in drop pods with tons of flamers and meltas twin linked...in your face on turn 1.
Sisters of Battle with GK allies. More Seraphim and the Saint plus a 10 man Palladin squad; well that was different.
Now that would normally be a humorous coincidence, but at the BAO I fought :
Space marines (Vulkan), Space Marines (Vulkan in pods), Space Marines (Vulkan with dreadnoughts in Pods), Space Marines, Chaos Space marines (Khorne heavy), Blood Angels (jump pack guys with flamers and melta), GKs. All power armour and I went with the Medusa instead of a Colossus.
And at the ComicKaze my matchups were:
Dark Eldar, Dark Eldar, Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Space Wolves (long Fang Spam...yeah, something different).
So...for TOs...do you alway go by strait WLD or points to create the next round of matchups? Or is their any system that looks at previous army types faced and bumps you up or down a spot to give players a variety of armies faced?
It's getting rather monotonous (and certainly not worth the price of admission) facing the same army type over and over...especially ones that, through a nice matchup of composition and mission, end up crushing you by turn 3...again and again and again.
