This is the first game of a tournament that i attended over the weekend. 1000 points, every mission purge the alien. My first game was against the only other eldar player.

It was an odd experience facing another eldar army.
comments always welcome

Nice report. I always like to see people making the little errors that I do, due to over-enthusiasm mostly! It certainly sounds like the battle would have been fun though.

Nice.
I find that I do that too, sometimes I just have to go in for the kill. His jetbike squad would have needed double ones to regroup, and falling back units count as destroyed at the end of a game.
Warp hunters are bad news bears when they get into range, but you had the gear to deal with them. The falcon is a nice hard counter, and S6 glancing to death...well not that game.
Why not use the fragons against the hunter, and the falcon against the lord. A non shooty lord is not really a threat, probably better to have waited till the hunter was dead, then send the fragons in for the kill.
How do you find the spear working on the foot seer? I am playing a 1k soon and I have points to spare for one, but I really like the extra attack. Is it that useful?

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

He made some pretty bad mistakes with the hunter... shooting it blind is only a good idea versus other blind stuff (that is behind LOS blocking terrain) and hoping or use it's BS4 for the best.
Not to mention it should have rifted you when you got close. 6" torrent flame template on that thing with the D-cannon rule nukes stuff...
I agree with serling - fragons against vehicles first. Especially the hunter. If he rifted the fragons and hit the falcon it wouldve been 2 KP for 1 shot. Be careful of this!!!

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............ |

I couldn't really get the fire dragons into range of the warp hunter on turn 2 so i decided to just drop them off after the wraithlord other wise the falcon would have been destroyed. granted it was in the end but such is life. If i had just gone flat out with the falcon turn 1 then i could have done that, but again the wraithlord was waiting there to kill anything that got close to the warp hunter. I just felt at the time it was the best decision but obviously it wasn't great looking at it now.
The singing spear didn't do anything for the in any of the 3 games, i just took it as i had 3 points left and i wanted an extra weapon i could use on a dreadnought if one drop podded in (didn't happen to me but some one did take one) so i was glad i had it for the reassurance. If i would do it again? probably but only if i had the points spare, i wouldn't go out of my way to get one.
