What are people's thoughts on running a majority Tau list with a Warboss & Nob Bikers?

My list would be something like this:

Fireblade/Ethereal HQs

Fire Warriors & Pathfinders behind an Aegis for cover.

3 Riptides w/ Ion/Fusion/Interceptor

Broadside with missiles, a couple of sniper teams for the BS5 markerlights.

Warboss with 5 Nob Bikers and all the upgrades.

Comes to roughly 2000 pts.

Here's why I think it will work:

A) Warboss makes them troops, they are a fast moving & scoring unit, something the Tau are severely lacking.

B) They are monstrous in combat, Tau lack any sort of combat punch.

C) They are incredibly tough to kill, there aren't that many units in the game that can go toe to toe with them and survive.

Thoughts? Ideas?

They wouldnt score as they are allies of convienance, unless that got changed and i didnt notice it. However, running a small bikernob missile would still be a bit scary and distract the crap outta your opponent. What to deal with, the mass of long range shots that typically out gun me or the meh shooting that can 1shot me if it gets to me thats coming at me screaming WAAAAAGH! at the top of their lungs....hmm...yea dem orks must die first lol (and gl at that for the most part)

The only downside is the cheapest and still most effective way to run a bikernob missile is ~500pts (Including da boss) give or take. However thats all you would be required to spend as they are now Troops and fill your one HQ and one Troop requirement.

Prior to the new dex i ran orks main with tau allies and took bikernobz. The idea was the bikernobz drew enough attention so the tau could dakka their heads off while my masses of grots and boyz took objectives and held them. Still waiting on my new tau dex to revise that tactic

Hmm, rereading through the rules i guess i gathered that because it says theyre treated as enemy units. Reading further before moving to Scoring (which didnt help at all in this case) the Desperate Allies specifically says they do not score or deny.

Well that would have been nice to realize. The last tourny i was in (10 people using it as an excuse to get us all together not a real tourny) i lost by 4 pts which would have been all i needed since my Tau Firewarriors were on an objective, and since i was the only one with an ally at the time noone was active in those rules to correct me when i said they didnt score >.< doh!

OK, rant aside, now this is even more of a deadly idea lol

Bay Area

I've had success running Nobz Bikers + Old Tau in Bay Area Open 2013. I used to field 6 Broadsides + 6 Nobz Bikers lead by a biker Warboss. The new Broadsides however is mediocre against AV13, terrible against AV14, and doesn't instant kill T5 and above. The new Broadside bases are 60mm, so fitting a squad on top of a Bastion is impossible.

Still, Tau have a lot of shooting and compliments Orks well.
