You all know how priming white gives you vivid colours and how priming black mutes them. I prime white, then wash black then paint my base colour. Question is, does the white primed surface heavily washed with Badab Black still have the vividising (heh) properties? It sometimes gets straight black I don't really have time to wash precisly the recesses.
Another question is about Tyranids ribs, is there any other method of shading them apart from washing or painting over black prime, like actualy painting every shadow or sth?
Last question, is Fenrisian Grey hard to pul off on larger surfaces or I'm just a crap painter?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why you would wash a white primered model before base-coating? I mean, they make grey primer if that's what you're after. I use grey primer on lots of models that I want to have a more medium tone after basecoating.

White primer for vivid colours, black wash for dark shadows to go from there with layers.

I use the white then wash black technique sometimes too. It really helps with very detailed models to help see the details (can be tricky with an all white or all black primer)

I do that a lot and depending on the colors that I,m going paint the mini with I sometimes wash it with a different color ex. bloodletters prime white, wash red and paint as normal.
I find that the wash brings out the details of the mini for when you paint it and the colors are still as vibrant as ever.
Its the best of both worlds, its like using both black and white primer at the same time.
On a side note I never prime with grey its not dark enough in the recesses and it muddies the colors. The worst of both worlds.
Thats just my two cents.
