Hay forum, we all know that Horus overseen the great crusade, but in the event of Horus's death, who do you think would have taken over the great crusade, would the emperor have taken the reins again, would he have given it to the Lion El Johnson or perhaps another, what are your thoughts, I personally would have said that the emporer would have taken charge again.

The Emperor would have not taken charge, he was too busy fixing the Webway.

Rowboat Girlyman would have probably been the next in line, with Rogal Dorn not far behind.

As much as I like Dorn, I don't think he'd get the crusade. What he might get is instructions to protect the interior of the empire as that's mostly a defensive campaign, whilst another Primarch, maybe Khan, would go all out offensive to expand the empire.

Horus himself thought that Sanguinius would have made a good candidate. It doesnt seem unreasonable, he was well liked by most primarchs, no real rival like Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors or Ultramarines and Word Bearers. They were all described with certain flaws, pride for Horus iirc, but Sanguinius doesnt really have an obvious one. The others just didnt have the mentality to do it, Guilliman is too cold to be really likeable, same goes for Dorn mostly. They lack the charisma that others had, like Horus or Sanguinius (angelic). Sanguinius was probably the most well rounded primarch for the task imo.

He had one flaw...Horus killed him.
