I recently purchased 12 bikes and an attack bike and wanted to know your opinions on the build for them.

I figure that there will be one sergeant, five regular bikers, two special weapon bikers, and one attack bike. should it be all melta on the bikes?

also, the remaining four I thought about putting a libby, apothecary, and a chaplain on them, leaving one last one for a commander or something else.
Just wondering what weapons would be good/useful for the whole lot of them...don't worry about parts I have plenty.

also while asking for advice...

how should I kit out a dev squad (I was thinking 2 las, 2 plasma), I never used them before, and was looking to make a stern squad too with multi-meltas. Is this viable or should I just make a tactical squad with melta/multi-melta?
Thanks in advance

On sternguard, All C-Melta, all day. No other way to run these guys.

Bikes, all melta, all day.

Putting a Libby and Priest on a bike gives them the extra durability that they need and mobility to boot. This is how I play my Libby and Priest.

Here lately I've played less priest and more bodies, yeah the extra save is good, but I'd prefer bodies on the board, and a 75 priest is almost 5 more guys.

Personally, in BA I shy away from Dev Squads, but if I were to play them....I just wouldn't, I'd play 2 Preds or 2 Vinds and a Storm Raven.

On building Tyranid army flow chart.

Do you have enough Termagaunts?

Just to jump in, the 5 combi-meltas on the Sternguard coming in with a Drop Pod seem to the the favored tactic. Some people are putting a Lightning claw (or even a Power fist?) on the Sergeant to give them some close combat goodness, but with 2 attacks each they're pretty solid in that respect.

I DO run Devastator squads but I usually run 2 of them when I do so. I run groups of 6 with the extra bolter-armed Marine just there to be the "closest target" to keep my heavy weapons safe a little while longer. You can also throw that extra dude onto a Quad Gun behind an Aegis line, which makes the squad that much more powerful. I run 2 LCs and 2 MLs (because they're cheap) and then run MM and PC in the other one.

I don't have any bikes, but the FNP you get from the Sanguinary Priest plus the Toughness 5 from the bike, plus the Jink special rule has me thinking I need to get some. MM on the attack bike, definitely.

5000 pts High Elves 4000 pts, Warriors of Chaos 4000 pts, Dwarfs 3000 pts, Wood Elves and Greenskins too

For bikers, plasma is the best I think. It takes the most advantage of their relentless.

For attack bikes, MM.

I say combi-melta for sternguard , but I never combat squad them. I send 8 sternguards, corbs, and a shield of sanguinius libby.

Yeah, plasma on special weapon bikes and MM on the attack bikes is certainly the way to roll.

I think there's a place for H Flamers (or 2 if you're willing) in Sterngurd squads, and they can certainly make an assaulty opponant think twice about what he throws at them, but combi-meltas and should be the default choice.

thank you all for your responses.

how will Relentless help plasma weapons, maybe I am not reading it correctly?

How should I kit out the characters so that they are WISIWIG?

Relentless allows a model to fire a rapid fire or heavy weapon and still assault.
