Since I believe, I know others do not agree, the troops are the weakest part of the Tau army, could I make a competitive list based on keeping firewarriors in transports and then using tanks and suits to remove the enemy?

You can but winning a game of objectives with minimal troop choises inside devilfish that you probably want to reserve in order to increase their lifespan is gonna be a major hurdle.

Personally, I think keeping your firewarriors embarked is wasting thier potential. Use the devilfish to block avenues of attack and push back encroaching enemies, while your FW sit on an objective. Then cover eachother with overwatch. Leaving them trapping in the transport is a waste.

Just my two cents.

People used to play this way. Vehicles are fragile now; the DP no longer gives the survivability buff it used to.

GW pushed the 6th edition rule set to favor infantry over tanks; With all the supporting fire that Tau infantry can do, you've got to have them out where they can do work. Bring some ADLs and set up shop.

Probably not. It might work against some armies, but often you need the volume of fire your Fire Warriors possess. Crisis suits and tanks simply do not pump out enough shots by themselves, especially since tanks were nerfed.

Unless you think of some nutcase solution, like taking huge amounts of Gun Drones. They put out loads of dakka, and with twin-linked guns you don't need much Markerlights to make them deadly.

Mr Vetock, give back my Multi-tracker!
