So Im deciding to try out mech Guard as Ive usually been playing foot guard since 6th has started. So here is my first try at a mech list.

CCS 180pts
x4 plasma guns
plasma pistol
chimera

Elites
Marbo 65pts

Troops

Vets 185pts
x3 plasma
plasma pistol
chimera

Vets 170pts
x3 plasma
chimera

Vets 170pts
x3 plasma
chimera

Vets 155pts
x3 melta
chimera

Vets 155pts
x3 melta
chimera

Vets 100pts (in vendetta)
x3 melta

Fast attack

Vendetta 130pts

Vendetta 130pts

Heavy support

LRBT 150pts

LRBT 150pts

LR Vanquisher 250pts
Pask
Lascannon
MM sponsons

10pts left, dont have my codex on me but essentially I will just throw grenades on the hq and a vet squad if able too.

I like the LRBT's, I dont have any forge world and 2 vendettas is all I have currently to work with, and I also have no Guard artillery.

Basic tactic here is to move the chimeras up fast to make use of their massed firepower the next turn. Hoping the vendettas come on turn 2 to pop transports along with the vanquisher. The battle tanks try to pick off anything bunched up too much.

No suggestions?

Manticore, at least 1. I'd also consider a blob just for a strong durable unit that can really push midfield and hope to claim it. Unfortunately, 10 guardsmen can be put down quite easily once they've hopped out of their ride.

I think I will try adding in a blob to sit back field and hold home objectives while the rest of the force advances.

Krak grenades are always a better investment on a CCS, if you need to kill 5 points. Can be thrown on overwatch, gives the whole squad an S6 attack against an MC in combat, and can threaten everything short of an Av13 dread or Land raider/monolith. Melta bombs cost the same, but are only for the company commander.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I don't think you should add a blob in a mech list.

I would recommend an exterminator for pask. If you sit still it's like four bs4 twin linked missiles. Id rather have that than one super shot, with hull points and whatnot.

Maybe use the 70 points to upgrade the LRBTs to demolishers? I know you like them as LRBTs but the vets have to advance to be effective anyway, so why not support them with av14 and two s10 templates?

Doesn't have to be a huge blob, but having a beefier squad that can really sit down on objectives is pretty helpful, mech or not.

Only thing with not using the demolishers is that they are slower than the rest of the tanks so by the time they get up to where the chimeras are at I believe the tanks will be firing a bit close for my comfort especially with s10 and ap2 iirc? I will rewrite up the list and see where I can throw points at. I might add a lord Commissar and a blob and drop pask and have 3 LRBT's to save points. I might have to drop a vet squad to also get a decent blob to hold the back objectives and hunker down.

Updated the above list. I like the fact of the heavy armor leman russes and vendettas supporting the troops advancing but any other suggestions? I think this would be a pretty solid list. Also all chimeras are multilaser and HHF so they can get high strength shots and engage horde with the flamers.

LRBT are fairly rubbish at the moment.
Swap them out for exterminators and see if you can scrimp the points for HB sponsons.

Im not sure about that, the bolters and the autocannons are nice but I think the battle cannon with its ap3 is more of a threat. The exterminator doesn't exactly help to much in my meta. I even tried one that was with lascannon/MM sponsons and I wasnt to happy with it. I figure if I keep the LR cheap I can keep a good number of troops and vendettas. The LR are pretty much their to soak up fire and are more of a psychological scare to my opponents.
