Hi there.

Being an H.P. Lovecraft fan and always looking for special themed armies, I was wondering if a Lovecraftian army would be possible. Deep ones, Yog Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, the Night-gaunts, the Moon-beast, shoggoths, and, of course, Cthulhu and the other Old Ones would make an incredible army. The Deep ones would be the ''rank and file'' along with the Nightgaunts. For the Deep Ones, I think Lizzy Skinks would be good, especially the OOP ones that look much more ''fishy'': http://www.ebay.ca/itm/370775107835?ssPageName=STRK:MEBOFFX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1432.l2649#ht_500wt_969

Nightgaunts will probably be Tyranids Gargoyle Broods. I will have to convert them a bit, but they'll be perfect.

This, will be my center piece, Chtulhu himself:

As for the army list, I perharps would adapt a Lizardmen list with Cthulhu, Moon-Beast, the Old Ones, Yog and Nyarlathotep all replace either rares or lords/heroes. Nightgaunts, Deep ones and maybe Gnophkehs would be Core and Shoggoths Special. I'm still a long way from an actual army list, but just in case something you guys don't think would work out, please tell me!!

Any other suggestions or ideas?

Thanks!

Whoah! It'll be awesome if you could pull this off
Now I've never played WHFB but using a Lizardmen army list would seem to this army the best.
Good luck, can't wait for more

This would be a fun list of Nids using Cthulu as a winged HT
There are plenty of nasty monsters that you could use as lictors, gaunts, and genestealers. I say go for it!!

Slight update. I have received my OOP skinks and it would be too difficult to convert them into Deep Ones. Hence, I've decided that they will be the Thuum'ha of Ib, the followers of the great water lizard, Bokrug (from The Doom that Came to Sarnath, short story first published in 1920). They will be water lizards and Bokrug will be represented in the army as a Hero. I'm still pondering over which mini will represent him, but there are some possibilities:

Well... There is always this.
Is your army for fantasy or 40k?
Also, if you have to pick one of your choices, I would say the most heroically sculpted of them would be this guy

Y'see, if you make it a proxy-daemon army, you can bring the Lovecraft to both fantasy and 40k with the same army

not a bad idea that! It would certainly work as most are bizarre, abhorrent monsters straight from your worst nightmare!

Well, because I am working on an army with Lovecraftian influences, I had to look for a lot of miniatures to build my army with.
I actually got quite a bit of links, but I deleted most of them because I realised that I was almost never going to buy the miniatures. However, they may help you out.
Deepwars
Dragon Blood, Dark Mariners
and some bits to spice up your army

You already know Reaper, which has a fine selection too! Looking forward to see you begin your army journey!
