I agree with this. Instead of switching to a new army, figure out what problem you are having with your current one and fix it. You learn more by loosing then winning. I'm sure you picked chaos for a reason, don't jump ship unless those reasons have changed. You can win with any army. Some might be more competitive, but playing the one you love is better then a few percentage points in the win/loss ratio.

CSM seems to be a solid army. What kind of list do you run? How many points? Who do you play? I'm no expert on chaos, but can help with generalities. And I'm sure there are some twisted heretics lurking in the darkness who can fill in the details from the warp.

Start by never using caps lock, ever. Next, write posts with some content that weigh things like what you actually want, what you like, and what you don't like. Finally, don't use chatspeak like "please" anywhere. Please. If your post was written like so:

"I'm having trouble beating my friend's Tyranids with my Chaos Space Marines. My lists have a lot of Marines in Rhinos and his have tons of monstrous creatures and I don't know what to do! What army would do better against him, and what can I do with my Chaos Marines to succeed as well?"

Then you'd be a lot more likely to get good answers, and you'd come off as intelligent and competent.

my brothers list is tableing me on a regular basis its 1500 point of dark angels consisting of a gunline that refuses to break and spews 140 (i counted) boltershots from 3 10 man tactical squads under an standard of devastation. assisted by deathwing deepstrikes and a nephillim jet that has a grudge on my heldrake.
my list consists of a prince with AoBF, 2 10 man marine sqauds with MoN and a defiler, heldrake, and a landraider packing 10 bezerkers.
it still wont work as i cant match his firepower

Put the Marines in Rhinos, get a second Heldrake. One Heldrake can Vector Strike the Nephilim, the other can either get killed by it or torch Marines. The Berserkers in a Land Raider shouldn't have a hard time with his Marines; I don't see a single thing in his army that can reliably take you Land Raider out. You've actually got most of the tools to take him down, your Marines are probably just being shot to pieces by bolter fire before they can get there since they don't have transportation. Hope that helps!

I'd second Brother SRM says. With two heldrakes those marines are toast. To beat a gunline you need to either have mobility to get up in his face and charge him by turn one or two, or skirt around his range and just play for objectives, which is what the Rhino will get you, especially since if he's not packing any anti-tank, his bolters can't even scratch your rhinos. Honestly, if you're footing it against a gun line you're probably not going to get there unless you LoS block with your land raider. Even then you're probably delaying your charge by a turn or two if you do that. I'd honestly recommend just playing for objectives if you can't afford to pay for new things.. With his list he is very static and only has a 24" threat range. I know that's kind of boring, but unless you're marching to him, he's probably not going to be able to hurt you that bad. So either you force him to come at you and just keep outside his range and then go at him, or you just ignore him and focus on the objectives the last turn or two. Also, I really hope your DP has wings, otherwise you are making it even harder on yourself.

His anti tank comes from 1 squad of deathwing knights which strikes infront of my raider and screams "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" hes even calls it the gandalf squad, whilst playing a CSM army his ap3 maces sqish my zerkers and smite the raider the folowing turn going S10 Ap1. his other squad of regular terminators strikes behind my defiler and polish him of with cyclone missles.

Whenever I fight a deep strike army I tend to park my vehicles/walkers on the back board with their backs hugging the board so that they can't get back shot. Might be hard on a defiler though.

tried it but defilers weirdly for their points are very squishy so it doesnt matter what facing his missles hit

Well it does matter. AV:13 with a 5++ is pretty durable, while the rear is not durable. MLs will struggle to deal with AV:13.

which would be so great if defilers were AV 13. their AV 12 so i has a problem

Umm I'm sorry to break everyones bubble but the AV of the defiler is 12 for the front, 12 for the flanks and 10 for the heck. Ich could however misunderstand something but there is no AV 13 in my Codex :?

Back to my main point please, ive got some money saved and i can either improve this force or start another one, CSM i picked because it was half of the DV set, but aside from that i have no real attachements to it.

Id like an army thats fast with good shooting and wont go out of date in the next 5 months.

Is there a preferred god of Chaos you are interested in? Heldrakes are awesome, Obliterators are a must IMO. Nurgle bikers are hard to kill with FNP in my experience, Noise marines are amazing at taking out objective campers with salvo 2/3, Pinning Sonic Blasters, and Heavy 1 AP3, pinning Blastmasters with the possiblity of two of these in a 10 man unit with the updated FAQ is cool and effective. Chaos Lords can be kitted out to serve a variety of roles but ive found they are killers in CC. Put a mark on them and he unlocks cult units,

I'd drop the defiler for 2 vindicators tbh. That and load up on plasma for the knights DSing in. Then blow him away. Chaos do quite a good gunline, but I always struggle to get over the board. A cheap 10 man meat shield of cultists always helps.

but if you're going against terminators, always pack a Kharne of Failbaddon. he's great in a unit of 5 terminators with combiplas.

once the deep strikers are taken care of advance on the marines with the heldrakes as support.

Though saying that, I've only got up against Dangles the once and my mate's still learning the army.

Ok, a few questions about your things.

1. Do you give the prince power armour/wings?

2. What special/heavy weapons to you tend to put on your CSM? Do you take any icons, namely vengeance for fearless?

3. Do you give your berzerkers VotLW? What weapons do you give to your champion?

4. How is your defiler kitted out normally? CCW (smart way imo) or ranged (kind of dumb imo)?

5. What options (aside from obligatory dirge caster) do you put on landraider?

Aside from that, I'll agree that a vindicator or ectofiend would help you a lot. at 1500 a second baleflamer drake might to good. For your berserker champ, try giving him PF/LC. A bit expensive, but it lets him potentially survive/kill in challenges.
Not sure how the two of you view proxies, but have you tried running plague marines yet? As loathe as I am to suggest to someone to drop their khorne units, you might be better off with 2x plague marine squads, after taking a cheap MoN lord to unlock them as troops.
Another big thing would be to get some havocs or obliterators. Also dont forget that havocs are capable of taking specials instead of heavies. So many people give me a when my squad gets out and unloads 10x plasma shots into them (4 x plasma guns, combi-plasma)
Also, CSM still kind of needs their rhinos, without ATSKNF, we really need to get across the board without casualties. And unless you regularly take the 25pt snipable fearless banner, well...walking CSM are generally dead CSM.
On cultists, I've found them to be very all-or-nothing. 10 man naked squad just gets killed turn 1 for easy first blood (and possibly 1 KP). Only mark i've found to be worth it is khorne for them. 30x with 3 flamers all with MoK is a decent-ish tarpit unit, and a great distractory unit to let your other things get into fighing position.

As for his list, where is he putting his banner? if it's in the open(ish) have your heldrake vector strike/flame the squad away. Terminators are always an issue for CSM, especially ap3 mace terminators. Your best bet is to shoot the gak out of them. Well, tbh the rest
might just be a decided lack of terrain. In my group, all of our games were pretty lame until we started making more terrain. easy as one or two boards of foam insulation, and a few sheets of foamboard. IIRC there are some good tutorials here on dakka on how to make
your own terrain and I believe there are even quite a few templates out there for it as well.

If he is deepstricking in, start runnig your guys with melta's and plasma guns.

I also agree with grumzimus. Get a couple of vidciators and watch his termies drop entire sqauds at a time. A sorc with invisbility can give them a cover save.

Take a cultist blob and bubble wrap the units he's targeting. Giving them cover and making hi munable to assault them.

Thanks all I've done it

got some vidicators from my neighbor who was making his imperal fists into an airbone army so he sold me them chep. i sprayed them black and added spikes and overall they look pretty good. i also bought his techmarine and then got a second drake from my local store along with a pair of rhinos.
the warpsmith (my techmarine) rode inside one of my 2 rhinos which both had havoc launchers carring 5 marines with plasmagun and a combi bolter champ.
i grouped the tanks togerther and when the terminators deep striked i simply tank shocked them and showed my brother the page saying that if they cant move out the way they get squished. (my wall of solid tank was just over a foot long). the turn 2 my new autocannon drake put down his flyer and my viditators blew apart the gunline while zerkers disposed of surviors.

i LOVE THIS LIST!!!!!!
