Ok this has probably been posted, but I have no idea how drones work. I sort of want an overview of how they work because I don't really understand the drones overview in the new codex. For example, if I took Cadre Fireblade with a FW squad and have them with a shield drone, would everyone have a 4++ save? Yes, I am a noob and this is probably a dumb question, but can you please help?

Shield drones only give themselves the invulnerable save so you need to stick them at the front for them to have the most use.

Ok, so they are sort of like wound allocates and bullet shields?

well you can use them for that, just the same as you can use a Firewarrior for that.

They are just extra models in the unit.
