Hey guys, does anyone know where I can find some good, sturdy miniature trees for terrain?

I currently use the premade Woodland Scenics trees, mounted on 40mm bases to make modular forests with, but while I really like the looks of them, I also really dislike how they shed bits of their clump foliage. Also, their 'pine trees' look a bit like rotten corndogs, lol.

I also have several sets of the super-cheap Lemax christmas evergreen sets, where you get like 24 trees of three sizes for six dollars, covered in fake snow. I find them to be absolutely awesome for games on my winter table, because they are cheap, plentiful, their bases are weighted to stop tipping, and they both look good and are just about indestructible.

What I would really like, though, is a way to get evergreen trees along the same line as the Lemax ones (with the brush bristle-type "branches"), but without the fake snow on them, so I can have sturdy trees of the same type on non-winter table games.

Any suggestions?

Are you specifically looking for evergreens, or any trees?

These look nice, but I didn't see prices (although I didn't look too hard).

You can also try craft sites, and maybe etsy.com.

edit: Ah, the prices are on the individual tree's page. You have to click the height you want, then it tells you. It looks reasonable, but if you want a lot it might get expensive.

I am interested in all manufacturing types of trees, though the brush-style evergreens and "deciduous" (like the Old GW trees) usually to be the cheapest and toughest. I like the looks of the Evergreens you can get through the Battlefront Terrain sets, but a lot of the cost is tied up in the area bases. I would rather make area bases and get more trees for the money.

I'm happy enough with my deciduous trees that use clump foliage, but I want better Evergreens, I guess.

Yup, those are what I have, but the clump foliage always needs repairing, from the vigors of repeated handling.

Brush-style trees are nigh-indestructible (at the expense that deciduous trees don't look anywhere near realistic), but I don;t know any good companies that produce them. Used to be GW trees were of that sort, and Battlefield Scenery sets for Flames of War have them, but that's it for what I know.

I know that some people have used pine-sol to remove the snow from the cheap brush-made evergreens.

Fill a jar, dump in the trees agitate, and soak.

Try giving your trees you have now a heavy coating of clear gloss and then a matt spray to kick the gloss off.. It will help hold the clump foliage on..

Plenty of bottle brush trees to choose from in both conical and bulbous shapes for evergreens or deciduous trees.

The old GW trees were made by K&M and are still available

Try varnishing the clump-type trees to keep the clump in place longer. Could also try spraying watered dwon white glue through one of those hand pump plant sprayers.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
