In the Dark Eldar codex the vehicles tend to have some sort of design painted on them (the closest comparison I can make is a "tribal" design), especially the sky boards. I'm creating my own Kabal and decided to go with a teal/golden yellow color scheme, but I wanted something a little different. I decided to try my hand at a Maori type design and this is what I came up with. I was just curious what you all thought of it? I simply painted the area the base color and drew the design with a fine water-proof pen that I use to outline my watercolors.

My plan is to do a different band on the nose of each Venom, with a different pattern drawn within it.

I think the smaller lines across the larger shapes are a bit messy, I think maybe you should simplify it down a bit so that the finished effect is neater.

Having said that it's a nice idea and I think you have overall executed it well.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

The tribal reminds me of Maori designs (IIRC, New Zealand?)

I quite like it. It does look a bit busy, as Dspleen said, but I think that's half the fun.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

It is very busy, but then, you're playing DE. They are attention whores. It looks great. My only concern is if you try to do it to a bigger model, make sure you don't overdo it.

I actually sat for a while drawing out the design on paper before I attempted it on the model. When I actually went to do it on the model I realized that the area I had to work with was about 1/2 the size of the paper I was practicing on, which is why it looks a little cramped. I tried leaving the areas with the lines blank in some of my practice drawings and it looked too empty. What if the areas with the lines were maybe done in either a darker or completely different color?

I don't know if I'd attempt it on larger vehicles like the Raider, and I'm not sure how I'd do it on smaller ones like the Reaver. I plan on doing different bands on my other Venoms in different locations, but each one will be about the same size as this one. I thought the Maori design went well with the railing for this Venom, because it gave it a kind of "head hunter" vibe.

Thanks for the feedback, as always it's appreciated.
