Well, after a semi break and a hectic move, i'm back into the hobby.
Since most of my stuff didn't come with me in the move, i'm starting afresh (kinda) and finally creating that marine army that I've somehow managed to miss. Coming from orks, i figured i'd go for the most vicious, rowdy and unconventional marines going. ++ SPACE WOLVES ++

This log will (hopefully) give me extra incentive to continue the progress as well as allowing me to give back to the excellent community here at Dakka by sharing any ideas, tips and/or tricks I find along the way.

A friend of mine just bequeathed me a pile of space marines, mostly from maccrage and black reach. All up there are six tactical squads, two commanders, a devastator squad (all missile launchers) and enough extra sergeants to make a five man assult squad (no jetpacks though )
So i have myself a metric ton of test dummies:


Some of these guys are absolutely terrible though. they will definitely be getting a nice long bath is some dettol.

The plan is to use a mix of pieces from the warriors of Chaos and space wolves boxes to end up with something a little like this:

This picture is very much just a basic proof of concept. They are also going to feature expanded torsos and spacers in their legs (and maybe even arms?) The chaos shoes will be greenstuffed into marine boots and extra wolfy bits will be added.

I'm thinking that the basic Blood Claws will be predominantly just from the space wolves box (but larger) and the Chaos Warrior bits will be saved for more senior marines, but that may will probably change.

as far as painting goes, i've never been a fan of the baby blue wolves that are cannon. so i'll be doing them up in pre heresy colours:


This is very much just a quick and dirty paint job. These guys were already primed when i got them and were covered in cheap, gritty spraypaint, so they will be stripped along with the others.

Looking forwards to this! I do love truescale SW, and the warriors of choas route is the way I went too, maybe this is helpful? :


As for some of those space marines...my god! that is criminal! it looks like they got carried away with the basing and just based the ENTIRE model in flock!

From what I see so far tho it looks promising, keep it up!

That's pretty close to what i'm thinking for some of them. but i'll be doing a little more green stuffing as well as trying some serious pose changes.
