So I have picked up my controller again and instantly been absorbed into Skyrim: Dragonborn. The game itself (in terms of gameplay and functinoality) is very strong. However, my complaint with it has always been the lore/mythos. It just doesnt seem to matter what Anja Blowsmoke does or if you help her find her dagger of rusty nails or not. Why has no one combined the two things that are needed to make a TRULY epic game. The universe of Warhammer, with the lore and broad scope of beasts/creatures/races/options with the pure game play of an Elder Scrolls type game. Warhammer Online (fantasy) is lame as far as I am concerned. The lore is there, but it is just a knock off of Warcrap in terms of gameplay. it is dull and does not offer the same immersion of a Skyrim (IMO, obviously others will disagree).
TL; DR. Is it feasible to create a Skyrim-esque game using the Warhammer or better yet, 40K universe?

I don't get it. Why do you think helping Anja Blowsmoke getting her dagger of rusty nails back would be any different from helping Grimm Darkblood retrieve his Skull of Skully Skulls?

1)Try reading the books lying around. Some interesting stuff in those.
2)Because most people have never heard of 40k, and the moment you tell them that the 40k universe is represented by 28mm plastic miniatures (they would say "toy soldiers") the get put off, and don't care how great the lore is.
3)Probably not. To get into the armies you'd need to be operating in concert with other forces, and probably act in groups. Skyrim-esque discovery + open-world gameplay could fit a kind of Inquisitorial/Deathwatch kill-team based game, but it'd be extremely complicated to pull off, and would probably suck, both in gameplay, and in storyline.
There was supposed to be a 40k based MMO, but it got cancelled (I don't know why). The idea of an MMO, IMO, seems pretty tough to pull off.

Just clarifying 3) from above
I'm not neccesarioy pushing for the mmo style of game... The single player questing is quite prolific (gotrek and Felix, mathias Thurman) in fantasy if less so in 40k. I suppose it is more of a pipe dream fantasy than anything else

I really didn't like Skyrim. The Warhammer universe would add some things but wouldn't fix problems such as lousy combat.

... Nothing? Since Nirvana is not Heavy Metal, and because there were already better bands ( IMO) than Nirvana playing it?
Anyway, of course someone could make a 40k game running on Skyrim's engine with its gameplay, but I'm not sure the game's design would lend well to 40k.

Nirvana is not heavy metal. They are Grunge/Alternative Rock, iirc. A better (and much more accurate) example would be Dio.

Or Nickelback.
Anyway, I found Skyrim extremely dull. Combat is boring and flavourless, the visuals are technically well made but the aesthetics are bland, flat, washed out and monotone, the difficulty is all over the place, with ludicrously difficult enemies and missions turning up from the start, and boring, unchallenging missions later on, terrible voice acting, a lame character creator, a world that looks just about the same everywhere, with no real variation beyond "mountains with trees", and a ludicrously shoddy, half arsed PS3 port with a tonne of glitches and piss-poor optimization.
Now a Warhammer Fantasy MMO done like Guild Wars 2, that would be something worth playing.

I've always thought it'd be cool to make a "elder scrolls" game, set in the WH universe.
My own personal idea that I thought would make things more interesting, would be the use of a sort of trophy slot on the armor. Ie. I am running around with an icon of Sigmar, so as I progress further and further along, I become more like the war priest in the battle march videos. Conversely, if I have a trophy that is a rotten hunk of meat, or some other "nurgle-esque" thing, I can become more of a plague carrier type.
Not only would the various trophies grant you a personal bonus, they would affect the way that people interact and react to you (depending on the relative score of your chosen area) in theory this could lead to situations where the city guards treat you like they do in skyrim if your bounty is 1000
