Hey guys, I thought I would just get my 2 biggest questions over with in one post. So I really want to try taking Gabriel Seth in my Blood Angels army, but I'm not sure what squad I would put him in. Since he lacks a jetpack, he'll be going in a stormraven because I know I'll be getting one, and I don't want to also have to get a land raider. The two squads I've been thinking of putting him in are an Honor Guard Squad with a Chapter Banner, or a 10 man DC squad with various weapons. The banner will give him an extra attack, and priest will give him FNP and FC, but the DC have more bodies and attacks, with variety in weapons, plus they all have FC and FNP already. What do you guys think is better?

My other question, is how do guys setup your VV squads. The plan is to have them deepstrike and beat up backline units like devs. I'm not sure if they should all get power swords, or if the sarge should get a powerfist, or both. How do you guys use them?

Thanks, Pheonix Lord Asurmen.

Lets try to not make more chaos gods, ok guys?
I'd call this thread a trainwreck, but trainwrecks are legitimately horrifying to watch. This is hilarious.

There is no good Vanguard load out, unless you use white out to change their point cost.

Well Seth isn't great really, but since he needs to be in combat a stormraven is good. I see him in a smaller squad, so against hordes he can make use of his special ability. So honour guard might be the better choice. (though not taking him would be the best )

For Vanguard I like seeing several LC/SS combos. I know it is very expensive, but it means they can take on most things and have some survivability as well. A power fist on the sarge is good utility too. Again however these guys are variable, as a bad scatter or bad dice (due to few attacks) can make them achieve very little in some games.

Good luck trying to use the 'weaker' units in the codex though.

Don't ever transport anything in a Stormraven unless your opponent has no AA. And even then, think about having to reserve all those points. I've crippled lists before the even got a reserve roll.

This has SOME merit. Bearing in mind the Stormraven's not too vulnerable with its anti-melta and multiple hull points, it can still be taken down by a lucky shot so if you do use it as a transport don't hang around.
I'll also echo the comment regarding Vanguard being a bad choice here. You pay a points premium for the ability to charge on arrival, but you're not using that ability. For the extra points you might as well go for Death Company and get FNP, Furious Charge and Fearless all thrown in.
The Chapter Banner command squad isn't such a bad idea, but I'd still say the DC are better.

Ultimately, though... time/money being no object, the Land Raider is the best option for Seth and friends hands down.
