Hello folks. I'm very new here and actually very new to the game even though I've been collecting and building a large ork army for some time. I was hoping for some advice.

Tomorrow I am playing my brother (another noob) in a 500 pt battle. My orks vs. his IG. His army will be very infantry heavy and very weak honestly. He doesn't own a lot of models. Last time we played he had only one weapon on the field that could pop a trukk.

With that said, I am looking for some good lists to bring tomorrow. I am not looking for a kickass list. I know I can bring a huge horde of boyz that will win easily. i have read a few lists that are pretty solid and obvioius.

What I am looking for is kind of a crazy list. Something goofy and fun. Last game I brought a weirdboy as my HQ that didn't do well but was fun.

I have virtually all of the ork list at my disposal. No flyers or flash gitz though (though I do have kaptin badrukk) and only a few kommandos.....

Like I said, I'm looking to learn the game and my codex and have some fun.

Appreciate any help you guys would give.

Thanks in advance.

In that type of situation I find it most enjoyable to play units that are maximally difficult to destroy but bring minimum killiness. You are very unlikely to table the lesser player and turn him off from the game, and you may both wind up focusing more on the mission objectives!

Just my two cents...

For the greater glory of the Zoat Empire!

I think if you're looking for a fun list so you and your brother can learn the game and have fun I don't think it would matter what you took
Just don't take Loota's or Nob bikers if you think he's going to have a weak list.

you both have armies that can field a lot of models, I'm always surprised how much you can take with Orks at 500 points

I once had a big mek, 11 boys in a truck another 12 on foot, a killa kan, 5 loota's and deffkopta and 10 grots for around 500 points if I recall correctly,
where as my opponent could only field a SM captain, one tac squad and a few scouts.
It wasn't a fun game for him.

If he's having problems taking out your trukks why don't you leave them out?

I think what Dancingwolf said is spot on, but if you're looking for suggestions, try this:

HQ-
Big Mek SAG

Troops-
1 Deff Dread 3X CCW, 1 Skorcha
19 boyz + Nob/BP/PK (20 total)

Fast Attack-
8 Stormboys + Nob/BP/PK (9 total)

The Shokk Attack Gun is (IMHO) the most random, craziest weapon in the whole game. It's so much fun to use in friendly games because you never know what it's going to do. I've had it straight up kill my Mek, and I've seen it (not by me ) take two predators off the board in one shot. VOIP!

Taking the Deff is always fun because walkers are just amusing. They're great in CC, too. Your brother will have a good chance to take it down before it gets there, though, so that's what the boys are for. You can make them shootas or choppas, it's up to you. As for the Stormboys, they're just crazy. They're fast, mean, easy to kill, and if you roll a one on your jet pack distance, one of them kareens out of control and dies!

I'm glad your brother is getting into the game, and good for you for not trying to slaughter him right off the bat. That's no fun. Play a couple of friendly games first, and remember to check the rules very often! Happy wargaming!

Damn, beat me to it. This thing does random hilarity better than the Weirdboy and is also decently strong to boot!

My bro just texted me and said he needs 530 points. So whaddya think? Same list as above but throw in a few more boyz or stormboyz?

For an extra 30 pts you can fit one more boy and two more stormboys. This is actually really beneficial for the stormboys because of the Mob Rule. You start the game as fearless since you're over ten models strong. Granted, you lose one and your leadership goes down by that (not to fall below 7, of course), but you can never have too many.
