Yesterday I brought the following list to a 1500pt tourney:

Archon w/ blaster

3 Trueborn, 3x Blaster, Venom w/ dual splinter cannon & Nightshield

Ravager w/ DLs & Nightshield
Ravager w/ DLs & Nightshield
Voidraven w/ Flickerfield, Nightshield, 2x Necrotoxin missile

Going 2-2 on the day wasn't quite up to my expectations. I guess I've become too complacent and relied on winning first turn and/or Night Fighting turn one to keep the Venoms ahead. This weekend I played four deep strike armies in a row (nurgle daemons, SM w/ DSing terminators, and a pair of Pod SW lists). Dealing with the odd deep strike isn't a new thing to me, but has anyone else noticed mass deep strike becoming more of a thing in 6th? Between that and Shrouded on everything (hi nurgle, nice that you're still competitive) I'm feeling outclassed with my army for the first time in a while. Any ideas how to make vehicle-based DE cutting edge again, beyond just spamming Wracks and taking a Farseer?

I wish Deep Strike were more common. I think that pod delivery is quite potent for Space Wolves, but for most other lists, they get broken up and piecemealed. Reserves, in my opinion, are still a massive liability. Perhaps the DE are not set up to take advantage of this, though. Not sure.

How badly did you loose your two games? If it was by a single point, then maybe the dice were not on your side. Maybe you were just having an off day.

2-2 sounds like a good day overall to me.

I would think against Deepstriking terminatos DE would shine. You would be able to keep away from the terminators and then turn around and shoot them. Reserves just breaks up their army into smaller parts for you to overcome, which is how I think Dark Eldar is played 99% of the time.

Against pods though, I can see them being a problem. Multiple pods coming in on turn 1 with combi weapons or plasma / melta can put a hurting on you fast.

I didn't have problems with the Terminator list, because it was literally just 2x10 Tacticals behind an Aegis line and 2x10 TH/SS termies in reserve with Calgar. I simply included it to highlight the abundance of deep strike units that I'm seeing way too much of for an army that crumples like paper at short range. The pod armies were far worse on me.

First game of the day was a loss to nurgle daemons on The Relic with KP secondary. The table was choked with ruins and he just dropped Epidemius and 20 plaguebearers on top of the Relic turn three. Didn't have enough turns and enough venoms left to shoot through 24 2+ saves. We were tied on KP at the end and he had First Blood over me.

Other loss came to a SW army w/ 5 pods in it. Real sparse table, so after turn 2 I just got hammered by Fangs w/ prescience and more pods full of bolters came down after I'd mostly wiped the other dudes out. Too many 2+ cover saves again with the ADL.

Might have just been a run of bad luck (didn't win first turn or night fighting at all until game 4; venoms couldn't wound) but it's left enough of a bad taste in my mouth that I'm considering drastic changes to the list to make sure it doesn't happen again.

It seems the ADL wins tournaments for people lol.

I would suggest trying reavers as a diversionary unit. Tie soemthing up in CC for a turn or two to get into a better position.
