Last Saturday, I played a doubles tournament with a Blood Angels partner. I'd like to get an opinion on what you'd do differently.

Our general strategy was for him to be the lance and me to be the shield. I.e. he would run his vehicles forward while I stayed back and provided supporting fire with two of the three hunter squads moving up behind him. It worked pretty well in the three games. We lost by a narrow margin in the first game (The Crusade) to Necrons and Tyranids, but Nightfighting on turn 1 probably hurt us the most. Otherwise, more Genestealers would be dead. Second game was Emperor's Will against a Chaos Marine and Daemon mixture. We almost tabled them with only two Tzeentch Horrors surviving. They did a Zerker rush though with most of them dying to shooting. My wolf wall really did damage here killing off a Bloodletter squad before they could assault once. He was able to get Kharn and Skulltaker into combat with two of my Grey Hunter squads, eventually wiping both squads out, but both characters got blasted once combat ended. The Hell Turkey did little damage (no baleflamer) before getting shot down. Third game was The Relic against Tau and Imperial Guard. It ended in a draw with the Blood Angels forces completely wiped but the Wolves bearing the rest of the force.

So, Wolves/Angels players, what would you have changed around on these lists? I thought we did pretty well, but could you come up with some better combo between these two armies?

If you're the supporting element, then I would do two things

1) Switch all of your meltaguns for plasmaguns and
2) Exchange your Rune Priest with the chooser for another unit of Long Fangs. Something like this...

Spoiler:

HQ:
Rune Priest
-Divination powers

Troops:
10 Grey Hunters
-Wulfen
-Standard
-2x Plasmaguns

10 Grey Hunters
-Wulfen
-Standard

-Standard
-2x Plasmas

Heavy Support:

-4 Missile Launchers

5 Long Fangs
-4 Missile Launchers

Fortification:
Aegis Defense Line
-Quad Gun

There's probably a few points to spare there too.

If I had the models, yeah I would run another Long Fang squad, but I'm very meticulous about WYSIWYG especially on tournament level. Otherwise, I would have thrown them in. The Rune Priest was there to compensate with LL mostly and to provide an extra anti-psyker coverage (which didn't really make a difference anyway).

You're right to be meticulous about WYSIWYG and I know that missile launcher bits are hard to come by. But I just thought I would give you my $0.02 on what I thought your best options would be and let you figure out how to get the models.
