Are there any rules governing the adaptaion of a drop pod for Ork use? I'd love to drop a group of boyz behind my opponent.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

I think its a fantastic Idea.
Something like av 11 all, open-topped, with a heavy shoota onboard.
Can be upgraded to a grotzooka for maybe 15 points
Can be swapped for a Telyporta Beacon for 10 points
Capacity for 20 models
Follow drop pod assault rules from codex: SM
Dunno about the mishap prevention stuff though, doesn't seem orky...
Maybe.....35 points

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Theres a proposed "Ork Rok" thread on this board already that I think you should look at.

Carries 30 Orks, scatters a whole bunch, major damage to whatever it lands on and makes a crater, and every Ork on board takes an S1 hit on impact.

I think that works pretty well. Haven't had a chance to test it yet though.

I would say that the drop pod rules from codex sm would be fine, with the armour decreased to 11/11/10 and a big shoota as standard armament.

I would also say that it should scatter 2 or 3d6" when it lands as it is more unreliable. Also, if it hits terrain, move it to the nearest edge but each model onboard has to test for dangerous terrain (chance of taking a wound from the impact).

I would increase the transport capacity to 20 though to compensate for the downsides.

I have also written proposed rules for ork drop pods. Check them out, in the codex i am working on.

Our little group also felt that orks needed some other options for moving units around. No drop pods, but we do have rules for a gunship/transport heavy kopta and ork tellyportas.

The tellyporta can relocate a unit to another part of the battlefield within LOS. This can can be to or from the tellyporta (risky) or even from two places away from the tellyporta (riskier).

I'd stick with the 11 all around, Drop Pods tend to be like Baboons, not quite sure which is the front or back...
