So, as a long time Tau player and Cobra fan I was thinking of converting my Tau into Cobra forces.

I already converted somebody to look like cobra commander (Metal faceplate version) and have painted up some FIrewarriors to be the rank and file Cobra troopers (Insuring their inability to hit anything)

Here's where I fell down though, should I paint everything up as Cobra in the dark blue W/ Red trim? Or should I paint them up like how their equivalent units looked in the comic/show?
If so, what unit would relate to what other unit? (I.E. What Tau unit would relate to what Cobra unit, to be less vague.)

So, here's my idea for some of them

Ethereal: Cobra commander (Mostly done)
Aun'Va: Serpentor (I suppose, he'll be hard/ Impossible to model)

Shadowsun: The Baroness (She's their infiltration/sabotage expert - I think the analogy works. Paint her black)
Farsight: Storm shadow (The sometimes loyal/sometimes renegade operative who works best in hand to hand, both can be described that way though I'll have to paint him white I suppose)

Cadre Fireblade/ Dark Strider: Major Bludd (Mid level infantry commander who leads on foot. I'm torn on this as his defining physical characteristic is his eyepatch. Well, and terrible Australian accent but I have no idea how to model that. Dark Strider comes with a built in 'Eyepatch")

Destro goes in here somewhere

FIrewarriors: Cobra soldiers
Kroot: Dreadnoks (Auxiliary Cobra troopers who act as mercenaries for other forces - a perfect corollary.)
Shaper: Zartan (I suppose, he is the leader of the Dreadnoks)

Pathfinders: Black vypers (Infiltrators and support specialists)

Stealthsuits: Either Black widow guards (The Baroness' personal bodyguard unit) OR Python Patrol (An elite unit with electronic counter measures that render them invisible to standard scanners)

XV 8's: Vypers (Elite Troopers granted the best technology and training the organization has to offer)
XV 88's H.E.A.T Vyper (High explosive, Anti-tank Vyper)

Hammerhead: Hisstank (Their tank.........)

Here's where it falls apart however.

What's the regular Commander called?
The Bodyguard team?
Piranha?
Gundrones? I suppose the gundrones could be the B.A.Ts (Battle android troopers) but the BATS could be something else too, possibly the Riptide suit.
Riptide? See above, BAT?
Devilfish?
The Bomber/Fighter (Trouble bubble maybe?)
A few other special characters?
The fighting Ethereal? (Possible Storm Shadow but then what does Farsight become?
Longstrike? I don't remember a tank commander character.

So, all fans of G.I. Joe and Fans of Tau out there on the internet, I put forth a call for your help in this matter.
It will be a slow thing to come together and it will mostly just be painting issues and some modeling conversions but thank you in advance.

You can model australian with a hat! I think Kromlech actually sells ANZAC heads that are wearing them.

Also, make farsight destro, isnt he supposed to be a traitor too?

I suppose Farsight could be Destro and then that makes Aun'Shi Storm Shadow.

I'm still wondering how to paint up Ripe tides, as B.A.T.s?

This idea is to good to pass up. I'm not the strongest on Cobra or G.I. Joe in general (a little before my time), but i would love to see this.

Also Zartan and the Dreadnoks, there's some good possibilities there (pathfinders?)

I figured Zartan would be a Shaper and the Deadnoks would be Kroot. SInce both groups were mercenaries who worked for Cobra/Tau rather than an out and out organization on their own.

I figure Firefly could be Longstrike.

I still don't know what to do with the Ripetide tho.

The Piranhas are Cobra Pods.
The Crisis Bodyguard could be Crimson Guard. This would fit if you use Farsight as Destro.

I was thinking of doing an MEQ Cobra Army.

The most important thing to remember: All glowing energy conduits and plasma must be painted blue.

I have no idea how to do the glow effects.
