Subject: All DA Speeders = Ravenwing?
|

Daemonic Dreadnought

I am working on a Necron Tomb Stalker and wanted it to be crawling over a wrecked speeder. Here's a pic of a test-pose: With the colouring of the Stalker I was going to paint the speeder in a dark green - so I thought "Dark Angels". I've also made a "casualty" out of spare old SM bits. But it's suddenly occured to me that a DA Speeder would be Ravenwing, and therefore black. So my question is as in title - are ALL DA Speeders in the Ravenwing? or are some piloted by normal green-angels?

In the old fluff, the 6th company was also trained in the use of land speeders (or possibly 7th) not sure what the official word is on it now but I'd take that as fluff, it makes sense that a chapter who takes tactical flexibility into account more than others would have assault marines trained in the use of speeders and bikes as needed

Pretty sure all the bikes and speeders are said to belong to the Ravenwing somewhere within the book, I doubt theyd lend them out to other companies without lending the pilots for it also.
It should be black if its Dark Angels, but they have successor chapters that do not use the black Ravenwing and Bone Deathwing scheme. Could easily be one of those, or some other dark green chapter
edit; the bikes and speeders are reserved for participating in 'The Hunt' , their #1 task is to locate members of the fallen and transmit co-ordinates to the Deathwing, to this end all other companies do not deserve usage of the companies fast attack vehicles, for they do not even know about the hunt for fallen in many cases. While the Ravenwing may lend aid while not busy with a hunt they could well dissapear in the blink of an eye to pursue this seemingly secretive mission.

I have a few icons for DA that i coudl have stuck to the speeder - dont have any Sally bits. I was also hoping for a darker scheme so it wouldn't detract from the Stalker itself. Plus my best friend plays DA so i was kid of trying to stick it to him.

But Deathwing dont use Speeders either. I quite like the idea of having it green to go with the rest of the model. Might have a look at Raptors or Mentors colour schemes - they are darker than Salamanders right? EDIT - Maybe not mentors - dont fancy painting all that white. Raptors could work through. Lexicanicum says they are a drab green so maybe if i mix a little graveyard earth into my green paint that will work....

Why not do it black then?
A Dark Angels successor chapter could have a green speeder

These guys have Green/Black colours, the deathwing shown is also green/black, the same could be assumed for the ravenwing of their force too?
