This list is based around fighting Eldar, specifically, Eldrad. The rough plan is to throw my two starting pods more or less directly on top of Eldrad so they'll land within Rapid Fire range. Little fuzzy on Deep Strike rules with regards to the Heavy Bolter and if it can fire at full BS (if you count as moving when podding, we've lapsed into playing it where DSers can fire normally except in the case of something like Heroic Intervention, which states you cannot. There's some stuff we tend to be lax on because two of our guys are new and we play 1.5k in most cases. When its just us four friends, we tend to skip out on checking rules when they aren't something major and instead go by memory or what seems like it'd make sense so long as we all agree. Heck, for the longest time my friend was running Fearless Terminators and I never called him on that until I started to test out Marines because it really didn't matter much. And every now and then my little Guardsmen would get absurd luck and actually win an assault and get to capitalize on No Retreat! wounds, which was fun. Similarly, we thought Fearless negated all morale, pinning and leadership tests. Whoops, turns out there's a lot of stuff I could have been doing!)
Anywho, with some luck the two pods should survive to allow the Librarian and company to follow up next turn, whereby we will try our luck at a Null Zone test in spite of Eldrad to shut off his annoying Fortune, than spray him in the face. When I originally made the list I completely forgot about locator beacons, so I had to drop one of the Deathwinds that has served me oh-so-well in the past against Eldar. (That, and asymmetric lists irk me when I can't immediately think of fluff for it. I can do it for the sake of points savings, although we usually allow 20-30 points over in a 1.5k game because we're pretty lax.)
There's a similar list following in the same footsteps (actually the above list came after but whatever) that drops the Librarian for pure Torrent of Fire capabilities:
Damocles Rhino
3 Tactical Squads
• 3 Heavy Bolters
• 3 Drop Pods
• Sergeants have BP & Chainswords
Total: 615
3 Devastator Squads (30 Troops)
• 12 Heavy Bolters
• 3 Drop Pods
• Sergeants have BP & Chainswords
Total: 810
Army Total: 1500 Points

We're targeting everything on top of Eldrad, and we're not looking back. Yes, this is pure abuse of the DP's Guidance rules to stack six pods in a ring around Eldrad if they all score Direct Hits (which would be interesting- would I have enough to surround him and instead of fighting him, just walk away and save him for last / let the DP's storm bolters whittle away at him? Once Eldrad is dead or I leave him be, the rest of the Eldar ought to fall swiftly to the massed bolter fire. The only forseeable problem would be the Rangers he will undoubtedly take. While massed fire will cause them to fail their 2+ cover saves eventually, it's the damage they're going to do while they live...
This list has excluded everything for the sole purpose of killing this one model. The reason? The pain of extending a game past its legal ending and finding out it would have taken four more turns to kill Eldrad with 24 snipers, two predators and a trio of whirlwinds with storm bolters. And this is on top of the two and a half I already spent firing everything at him. (He sunk a lot of points into his Dire Avengers and Rangers, which did not last that long. His Wraithlord died first turn to a squad of snipers, and his three Warlocks were dead by turn three.) The other annoying part of that match was Eldrad's Mind War power, which ate Commander Dante in one turn when he failed to roll off by five and keeled over and died. (Yes, it took about six or seven turns to kill an Eldrad with TWO wounds due to Dante's curse. That was just painful.)
