I finally got to try out Dark Age and Infinity. I am sooo liking those two games.

I like the whole 'reaction' thingie to Infinity as well as the look and feel of the background for the game.

Dark Age I like how quick it plays and how in your face you sort of have to be. The background is wicked awesome too.

Next I'm looking to get into Godslayer, Eden, Bolt Action, Nemesis, Anima Tactics, and maybe Saga.

Just thought I'd like to share.

And there was much rejoicing.

I think a lot of people are surprised by the variety of different play styles and games you have available once you get away from 'that other one'.

Once you get going into it - don't be afraid to try out other rules as well...even if you are just using proxies in order to get a feel for them. And of course the independent rules writers if you really are feeling daring are where you see the most innovation in terms of the rules themselves. A lot of the newer, fancy tricks in the retail friendly game lines were first used in self published rules years before they made it into any game with shiney packaging and a hard covered, color rulebook.

Welcome.
You've taken your first steps into a wider world.
Looks like, you've got quite a journey ahead of you.

As Sean says, the range of rulesets is quite large, and surprisingly varied in the mechanics they use. It can be hard to find opponents sometimes, but it's worth it!

The only big name game I play anymore is Warmachine, and thats really only with 1 friend. My wife and I (and soon our older boy) play Blackwater Gulch, Song of Blades & Heroes, etc.

That is one the reasons alot of the more indi games are gang or one squad to help you get others involved.

MERCs I'm definitely getting into once my buddy gets his starter.

I'm getting up my Mortans for Godslayer painted up now and that's what I'm going to try next.

Welcome! Hope you find "your game" !!!

The best thing I ever could have done for my love of this hobby was to stop chasing the WH40k white-rabbit. It was my first table-top game, and like many, it was all I could picture when I thought of the hobby.

Then I found maybe a dozen better games, some of which come from $8.00 pdfs (Song of Blade and Heroes is a TREASURE of fun and simplicity, coming from other games).

Heck, leaving behind the "popular" games let me find my perfect one, which ended up being Dust Warfare. :-)
