I know I know, who is that guy? He was Admiral Motti in Star Wars. Not really a big deal (well, to his family I imagine it is), but we have a lot of Star Wars fans here so i thought I would pass it along. He was 66 years old.

Having played The Old Republic and maybe read a book or two, it seems odd, looking back that Vader would defer to Peter Cushing, as a Sith of his stature would only answer to the Emperor, and usually were pretty dickish about that as well, being Sith and all.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

To be fair, that just makes Grand Moff Tarkin even more awesome.

Shame about Motti.

I think it was probably because Vader, and the Emperors Character wasn't really planned out to much, at this point. I imagine if Lucas (Heaven Forbid) went back and redid the movie, a lot of Scenes, like that one, would be different.

Thus the 'looking back' part. Lucas might do it differently because he is terrible now (and kind of was then, but he at least listened to collaborators), but it is fine the way it is, and perhaps Vader respects Tarkin, or maybe the Emperor told him to listen to him, or give the appearance of deference. Either way, as MrDwhitey said, it just makes Tarkin that much more awesome.

I believe it was a case of the Emperor telling Vader to obey Tarkan and help him with the Deathstar, not a case of Tarkan actually outranking Vader.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Maybe it was to show that Vader didn't display typical Sith arrogance and therefore there was hope for his later salvation in Episode VI (not a spoiler - there is a statute of limitations )

Either way, Rest In Peace.

I think it's because no one can possibly outrank Peter Cushing, as he is... well, Peter Cushing.
