Just thought I'd get it clarified: when a torrent weapon is fired and turned in such a way to maximize casualties, what direction is it considered firing from, where the template is placed, or the position of the firer (be it a heldrake or a hellhound)? Here's the scenario: a heldrake is head-to-head fires a baleflame template at a chimera, and he turns it so that it would appear that the template is hitting the side armor (or if he gets close enough, arcs it so it looks like its hitting rear), is it hitting front armor (which is what the heldrake is facing) or is it hitting side/rear? Also, can I have a pg. reference to explain either?

Arc of Fire or Facing is determined from the position of the Firer.

(BRB page 52, in the 'Template weapon' section)

So in your example you'd determine which facing of the vehicle is closest to the heldrake regardless of where/how the template was placed. (though it is also illegally placed if the narrow end is further away from the heldrake than the fat end of the template)

as above

the template also must be placed with the narrow end closest to the firer as well

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Torrent must have the narrow end closer to the firer than the large end. Its something I've had to correct a few people on, they think they can just place the weapon to maximize hits.

Aside from that, its like normal shooting. Even other flamer weapons. You take casualities from the closest models first.

You could end up not taking any casualities from models that were actually under the template.
