Pulse Accelerator extends the range of all Pulse weapons by 6" in a unit that contains it.

In theory this means that it can also extend the range of Kroot rifles, but I don't see that it can not be taken by anything except the Pulse Accelerator Drone accessable by the Pathfinders.

Am I correct or am I missing something? If it is only for Pathfinders, then why not just say "Pulse Accelerator extends the range of Pathfinder Pulse weapons by 6" in a unit that contains it.", rather than "Pulse Accelerator extends the range of all Pulse weapons by 6" in a unit that contains it." ?

Because an IC with a pulse weapon can join the unit and gain the effects.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

If that then is the case, there are only 2 IC's ( that I can think of ), that might qualify ( neither of which would I call spectacular ) - but wouldn't that be redundant given that IC's gain traits from the unit rule or was that a change with the the move to 6th Edition ( or was that the edition prior to the last one ) ???

Different rules have different ways of applying. In this case it would apply to an IC since it refers to the whole unit's pulse weapons. If it said Pathfinder pulse weapons then it would not apply to an attached IC.

As for the question in the OP, yes, they could have added a redundant Pathfinder-only statement but what would be the point? It would just be adding extra words that aren't needed, and would cut off future units (through FW/WD) which might also be able to take pulse accelerators.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
