ok i'm curious for future games how does smash interact with rampage and other fight bonuses, such as charging and rage ect. i had a conundrum with it the other day now that i might be using it more with khorne daemons and bloodthirstiness, does the D3 bonus from rampage add to the characteristic stat or are the a bonus i apply to my attack counts if i smash. my mathhammer isnt too good as i'm learning impaired and i still don't get the advance rules.

Anything that is not your base Attack stat is not affected by smash. Also it's in the BRB faq.

When you smash, you take your base statistic and cut it in half, then round up, then you add any bonus attacks.

To answer, yes. This also means that your charge bonus is not applied in the "halving of attacks". I do believe however that wargear that grants additional attacks (such as terminator honours on non-terminators) modify the base stat. Using a pistol, however, is a bonus attack.

For example a Tervigon (3attacks) with Crushing claws +d3 and warspeed +d3 decides to charge. When using Smash the Tervigon would halve the 3 to a 1.5 rounding up to 2+d3+d3+1charge.

This is addressed in the rules for Multiple Modifiers, which is on about page 3 of the rulebook from memory. In short, all multiplications and divisions are donw first, followed by additions and subtractions, before finally getting to set values.

The game I played in tonight, a DP with the Black Mace charged my Dread. He got 2 for charging and rolled a 5 on the Mace. He was going to have 12 Str 6 attacks, until I pointed out to my opponent that Smashing would give him 10 Str 10 attacks. It was ridiculous. Obviously, the Dread didn't survive.

it would help others, looking for rules discussions/clarifications on Smash if you made the topic a little less... generic. (Read: useless.)

Like exchange the word "it" for "Smash" and you've got a good topic.
