What do you think? 40 snipers that could be 120 bolt gun shots if need. 26 Fire warriors with potentially 78 S5 rapid fire shots. With Missilesides pumping out 72 S7 shots and another 36 S5 shots with suicide melta teams to deal with AV14. It would do well against shooty hordes I feel. But what would cause it massive problems other than AV14 spam?

I like the list, but I worry that your Markerlights could go down rather quickly. I think Riptides would fit this list beautifully. Two of them instead of the Crisis suits and maybe a Broadside would make the list, IMO, better.

Both crisis teams are less than 100 points them and a Broadsides would not get me 2 Riptides. It would get me one and maybe an Aegis. It would also entirely remove my ability to deal with AV14 at any sort of range.

No more ideas? Or is the list perfect?

riptides can get fusion blasters, and also punch a few holes in av 14 in a pinch. The main problem with this list is that it is static and squishy. At least put in an aegis to keep your kroot from being scythed down in a single turn. and to keep your ethereal alive long enough to actually get a turn of shooting in with an extra shot.

What would you do against another shooty list with greater range like IG? Your maximum range is 36" with almost no mobility, you'd have to hope the suicide suit units take out all their long range hitters.

With a 36" range all it would mean is he would get the alphastrike if I went 2nd Id just deploy in range. If I went first Id move into range turn 1. Most IG lists come at you anyway with Chimeras. Generally only bad IG players play a static gunline.

im sorry with all the tau sexy large blasts high ap weaponry brought to the table under the new codex, How, i ask how, can you afford to play without em.
Riptides = pure win
Ionheads now suddenly worth it in all gun lines cept vs high av14 in which case longstrike and cpl fusion blasters does the job.

I'd break your troops up differently, and go with 2 x 12 fire warriors (using the extra points from the 13th fire warrior to purchase the 'Ui for the leadership boost) and go with 4x10 kroot instead. While I don't know how your club sets up terrain, In mine it would probably be tough to find a large enough chunk to fit 20 man squads into it. Plus, I'd say it would be very easy to run into potential situations where you're wasting a large volley of sniper fire where it may be more effective to break it up and go for precisions on heavy/special weapons.

I won't run firewarriors in 12s too much of a liability in assault particularly now they come with those stupid photon grenades.
I'm already Ld10 not sure why you think 'ui would improve that?

I second the vote for finding a way to get one or two riptides into the list.
In a recent game - having the flexibility to (in the same game) drop nasty pie plates, destory CronAir, and also assault in one of the final turns to wipe an injured unit was just to versatile to pass up. Additionally, having an MC will be one more thing for your opponent to have to consider.
I have also found that not being able to handle AV 14 can be a disaster. Tau's only realistic options for this are Farsight, Fusion, Longstrike/Railheads, or Seekers. In your list, if he focuses on your fusion blaster models and wipes them, his LR or Monolith can roam free to wreak havoc.

The usual applies: Break into one pair and two singles ... yeah, even for the suicide runs. Although, I recommend reconsidering the suicide concept, given how mobile JSJ is in 6e. I was sweating an Ork BattleWagon, lacking Railguns, ya see, when I was able to easily get the LoS angle to side shot its side armor with MPs. *boom*
I've always disliked the "suicide" concept for any unit in 40k, so perhaps a rethink on your part might mean a longer lasting, and more damaging set of XV8s. But you've always seemed like a capable Tau player, FiN, so ...

I think Atma is right in shuffling the FWs, but I see your point in keeping them at low numbers to ensure that once assaulted they break and/or die leaving the enemy unit open to retaliatory fire. I just don't think the small crews have enough impact offensively and are too easily eaten (to shooting). I might compress the 26 FWs into 3 crews of 9 (you do have the 1 add'l FW model, yes?) and cut a kroot or two for the points. 9 being the magical "It takes 3 to die for a Morale Check" rather than 2 dudes at 8 or less.
I've enjoyed 2 wins so far, but with 3 PF crews. MarkerLs are far more essential with this book than last, since the XV8s don't have Target Arrays.

3 XV88: HYM, EWO, 6 Missile drones 288 Since these are far more your Meat&Potatoes than the troops (yeah it's a lot of shots, but so fragile) I'd be sure to Kroot Loop (bubble-wrap) them, but you already were going to do that, yes? Or no, you were going to use the kroot as forward offense? Both?
Helpful?

I like the suicide units. They cause a problem that assault armies have to turn around to deal with. I'll try both 2x2 and 2+1+1 and see which I prefer. If I was doing the later Id be tempted to triple the fusion on the Monats.
The problem with 9 is that its 2 FWs that need double 1 rather than 1... with Ld love from the Ethereal I'm less worried about morale checks with this book. Will give 9s a go though.
As for the sides they will be wrapped Kroot being the outer shell that may go forward if needed. I also always put the drones behind the Broadsides, though they sometimes JSJ front and back or go to front if there is a lot of S8 Ap2 coming my way.

I missed the Ethereal at the top. I personally still recommend it in case the ethereal dies, but your mileage may vary.
