So I've been working on the fastest possible army with multiple threats and strong, albeit slightly less then usual scoring potential. Tell me what you think.
Bloodthirster 300
Exalted Reward
Greater Reward
Herald of Khorne 150
Juggernaut
Exalted Reward
Fury
Herald of Nurgle 70
Fecundity
Herald of Nurgle 70
Fecundity
Plaguebearers (20 models) 180
Icon of Chaos
Plaguebearers (20 models) 180
Icon of Chaos
Flesh Hounds of Khorne (20 models) 320
Plague Drones of Nurgle (6 models) 302
Plaguebringer
Icon of Chaos
Rot Probocsis
Chaos Lord 170
Mark of Khorne
Juggernaut
Axe of Blind Fury
Sigil of Corruption
Cultists (11 models) 54
Chaos Bikers (7 models) 204
Mark of Khorne
2x Meltaguns
Icon of Wrath
Here's the idea, The cultists and plaguebearers will all start in reserve, as to prevent the opponent from having them as an option to shoot at early on.
Hounds scout 12" up, there's 40 wounds there. by Second turn (or first turn if I go second) I'm charging into their lines. The Herald will take the Grimoire, and turn down any challenges he can't reasonably handle (any instant-death, or 2+ save nonsense) If for some reason my opponent doesn't kill any hounds, that's 80 attacks on the charge. hitting on 3s and wounding on 3s against MEQ.
Behind those dogs. The bikers Turbo-boost to get the lord as close as possible while taking fire for him. By himself he is potentially 13 attacks on the charge at WS5, S7, AP2. The Biker champion can (and most likely will) take the challenge to leave the lord cleaving any squad they charge on turn 3. Meltaguns are there in case I need to pop transports.
Also behind the dogs, The Plague Drones come flapping in with 12" movement then 2D6 move in the assault phase if nothing's in charge range. I've now got 3 devastating units close to my opponents line. This squad would be the one to tackle any monstrous creature or heavy vehicle (yay touch of rust) Targets that the dogs, and to a lesser extent, the bikers, might have trouble with.
Cultists walk on to a back-field objective, Plaguebearers have 2 options. They can use the Icon from the Plague Drones to show up mid-field or further, or deep strike near a mid-to-backfield objective.
The Thirster is hoping for Soul eater or Warp Tether, any other result gets swapped for the Portalglyph and I drop it as close to the back-field objectives as its scatter will allow. Then spawn small groups of horrors or plaguebearers depending on what's coming across the field.
Thoughts?

101 views, no responses. Is this a monster list that you wouldn't want to go up against? or what's up :p

At first I thought your strategy was complicated, but is just a speedy list with a small amount of ds.
I thought the rock paper scissors was gunline shoot down speed, speed manuvers around drop/deep strike, and deep strike touch down behind gunline.
However I prefer mobility over committing reserved ds units. So it looks really good.

I'm not familiar with the CSM codex, so not sure if there are any special rules for hounds, but otherwise you can't charge after you scout. I think.
Otherwise it seems pretty solid. Again, not an expert on CSM. Was just wondering if you got 2000pts running across the field, wouldn't the enemy got 2000pts shooting at you as you come running? You sure those hounds won't be shot to smitteries in the first turn and the bikes in the second? You'd still have lots of models left, but if you can't get to the gunline on turn 2 you're done for. But hey! That's the general idea, right?

If I go first, I cannot charge, you are correct. If I go second however, the first "turn" is my opponents, and as I will have the second turn, I am able to charge.
The Dogs are very resilient, anything less than missile launchers or battle cannons will not take out a dog outright as they have 2 wounds each. so 40 wounds with a 5++ save. Remember, these are 16 pt models, only 8 pts per wound, I don't care if I lose a few. or alot even. They still pack a punch on the charge even in small numbers. WS5, S5
As far as "if" I get there, Dogs scout 12" pregame, then they move 12. then charge an average of 7". If playing hammer and anvil, there is a chance my opponent can get a second round of shooting at me by deploying deep into his backfield. But, either other deployment will allow me to charge almost immediately. The hounds can get anywhere on the table after 2 turns of movement.
