Here's the scenario: a Hellhound fires its inferno cannon at a DE Beastmaster squad comprised of mostly Khymerae and Razorwings, and with two Clawed Fiends; going by the majority toughness rule, the squad's toughness is 3. Does this affect Instant Death thresholds? In this case, would that str. 6 Hellhound template inflict instant death on the Clawed Fiends if it got to them?

Re-read the ID rules, it is done on a per model basis not on the unit basis.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

ID is only worked out when assigning wounds to models.

Majority toughness is only used for rolling to wound.

So you would roll against the majority of 3, needing 2s to wound. Wounds assigned to Khymerae and Razorwings will cause ID, but the wounds assigned to the Clawed Fiends will not.
