I'm new here, so maybe this is common knowledge. But I didn't see it in the FAQ or the first couple pages of posts here.

When I check the "Notify by email" tickbox in a reply or click the similar link at the bottom of an existing thread, it works exactly once. I get the notification email with the link to the thread which says I won't receive further notices until I visit again. OK, so I go to visit and see the new posts. But then I never receive any further notifications after that.

Am I the only one with this problem? It certainly doesn't seem like that's what's supposed to happen.

It wont send further notifications for as long as you are classified as 'logged in' on the system - approx 30 minutes after you view a page on dakka. If a new post is posted in that time it wont email you. You can change your settings to 'keep emailing me' or something along those lines which will send you every message no matter when you sign in.

Ah... OK. I generally keep a ton of tabs open to all the sites I'm interested in at the moment. So I basically never log out. That would seem to explain it. I found the "always email" option... we'll see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!

This does seem like a pretty strange configuration, FWIW. I've participated in lots of game and hobby forums over the years. This is the only one I've seen with this behavior.
