Just had a rather beastly idea of building an IG army around respawning conscripts and sabre platforms. Has anyone tried anything like this? In theory, a whole load of twin-linked/interceptor/skyfire lascannons, and infinite conscripts hurling themselves at the enemy. Any other units going 'spare' - e.g. the PCS and PIS required for those options to be taken - to be kept lean, or possibly loaded with flamers.

Has anyone tried something like this? I know it's a bit trolly. But I'm curious to see if people think it'd be effective, or just a gimmick...

Just a gimmick. There's no strategy beyond "pick two random IG units and spam both of them".

Well it can be fun but the fun fades pretty fast when you have to actually move all those conscripts.

I've run respawning conscripts and they did just fine (and were kind of fun), and that was without taking the most undercosted weapon upgrade available to a player who fields imperial guard.

Spam sabres and you have all of your anti-everything-but hordes and an army that your opponent can't shoot off the table because it keeps on coming right back on.

Effective? Definitely. Will people stop playing you? Likely.

Better hope you can win the game with only the objectives in your own deployment zone, because you have zero chance of claiming (or even contesting) any of the other ones.

Well, maybe likely in that your opponents will get bored while you move and re-deploy all 9999999999999 conscripts. Not very likely if you're talking about refusing to play because the list wins too much, because it's a terrible list.

The list might work if you have a lot of Barrage Support to blow things off objectives in you opponents deployment zone. As mush as it sucks with the new rules allowing you to know which deployment zone is yours before place objectives ot really only gives three ways to start.

1) You have more
2) Both players have the same
3) You have less

This is the only real area of 6th that I don't really like. In 5th you needed to plan ahead during objective placment in case you got the sucky table edge.

I'm findind the best way to win with guard these days is blast their scoring units aff the table by turn 3 then hold onto you objectives for dear life. Slowing down enemy assaults with speef bump units also helps.

I totally agree with both peregrine and sinji. You can win with proper barrage weapon support but sabre platforms are immobile so with those and conscripts alone you will never take an objective.

Well you could make it even cheesier. Sabre Platforms and Arty platforms. Infinite conscripts. SW or DA allies with a power blob (or two), which also gives you troops capable of taking objectives.

I probably won't ever use it, but I was curious as to people's opinions. And certainly using static artillery would be a boon.

If I ever do manage to get the minis together for it, I would only use it for a laugh with close friends. Certainly not for a game with strangers at the FLGS

As far as capturing the enemy's objectives are concerned, well, another option would be to put al'rahem in one of the other PCS'. Then just contest them all with weight of bodies.

HQ-wise, 2 Lord commissars of course. Keep them near the conscripts but not in them.

And pull them back when you just want the conscripts to die
