Ok so I have recently started playing Malifaux as its taken a huge boost in my area and I am loving all the Rob Zombie/Alice Cooper inspired monster's so I decided to pick up the Arcanists because I love steampunk feel and robotic abominations and ice creatures they give, so I picked up the Kaeris box set (mainly because she's a steampunk angel... what's not to love ) and I was thinking on getting a soulstone miner and I was thinking what would be good next for her crew? I have only 2 games of malifaux and Im enjoying it so far but I don't know all the rules yet, I was also thinking on picking up Ramos since I love the victor Frankenstein vibes he gives me (and his monster Ryle I think he's called).

So I was wondering on what I should get after the soulstone miner? also I was wanting to know what are the fluff developments with Kaeris and Ramos? I know limited knowledge of the game but I love the bits I have read and I know that the game books develop the characters so, I was wondering has Ramos and Kaeris fluff developed?

My girlfriend plays Kaeris, so my knowledge is just based off what she has.
Iggy is cool, as he can hand out burning tokens..plus its pretty cool that a Neverborn can work with an Arcanist.
Willie can also deal out the burning tokens as well, plus he makes stuff blow up!
She doesnt have it yet, but the Rail Golem seems like it would be a good choice as well...could always pick up the Rail Crew for Kang as well.
Finally, the Student of Conflict might be a good idea for a totem, as he will be able to give Fast to Kaeris (however, he will likely get left behind as he is slow).

I would suggest getting her Marcus so he can hold her purse. :p Seriously though Marcus can increase her soul stone cache & act as incredibly fast objective grabber. Plus it opens up the whole Arcanist,range. I ran this the other day against Misaki & it more then held it's own!

A Malifaux raptor turned the rail golem into beast & Marcus Alpha'd him twice before exploding in the midst of his crew which Kaeris then aaccelerated twice. It was priceless!

Ok thanks I do like the look of marcus But I think I would probably go for Ramos first as he seems to go well for all the steampunk constructs which I like out of the range, and yeah i do like the look of the rail golem Was thinking on picking him up after I get a soulstone Miner and a Moblie toolkit, and I was wondering but what does a moble toolkit offer to the table?

Get the mobile toolkit to go with Ramos. You will probably want the Ramos crew, vs just him. You need arachnids go with him. The advantage of Ramos, is he is a bona fide master, not just a henchman.

Kaeris has a VERY limited number of characters she can bring in. Joss would be a good beat stick, or even Johan.

With his construct affinity, he can even bring in a couple of constructs from the guild. Those two give you a really good base to start from.

One other master/crew to look at and get, is Mei Feng and the Rail Crew (http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Mei+Feng). She has a definite affinity to constructs, even her "humans" (rail workers) have enough metal in them to make them count as constructs. Her whole burning schtick works really well with Kaeris, as well.

As someone else mentioned, look at Willie. While he's not a construct, he is just crazy, and fun. :-) He runs around with a wheel barrow full of fun (dynamite) and blows things up. What's NOT to like? :-)

the mobile toolkit gives a tomes to a friendly caster within 6''. which is really nice for both kaeris and ramos. not only does it make it easier to get some spells off, it automatically triggers surge which will help you cycle cards in to your hand. your minions will thank you.

don't get me wrong, i have both mei feng and ramos, i just find my playstyle is better suited to the living side of the arcanists. that's why i like this game, huge variety and options for any playstyle.

Mei Fengs boxed set, some metal gamin, Willie and the rail golem.

Also don't forget that it's pretty likely Kaeris will be a master soon.

Kaeris is not included in the first wave of 2.0 models though, sadly. I believe the second wave of models (which will bring everything up to date) is scheduled for mid-fall

Rasputina on the other hand does have updated rules, and has actually turned into one of the better masters in the game currently. She's a straight up spell caster, with the ability to cast spells through her minion models, similar to arc-noding in Warmachine. She also has good access to paralyze sources.

2.0 will be available for prerelease at GenCon with full release in October (unless this has changed in the past 2 weeks). If you bare not going to gencon (or don't have a friend going) I would be careful about ordering from wyrd's site during this time as they has had issues with orders placed during GenCon and involving things at GenCon. There are stories on their forums of people ordering things during GenCon and not getting it until after the retail release, and this usually happens with orders for oversea customers. Just some FYI though they may have had it fixed
