Does anyone know the dates for Adepticon 2014?

Probably work

It's almost always the 3rd weekend in April.

Shame too, as it usually conflicts with the local presentation of Shen Yun.

That is Easter Weekend next year. Is that likely?

Oooh, good point. I genuinely have zero idea then. There's a good chance that the Adepticon people won't even know at this point.

I'd stay tuned and wait for an announcement. A lot of people involved are also here on Dakka, so we'll be one of the first places to catch wind of it.

The weekend it occurs on varies every year. Mainly because (as you mentioned) Easter weekend varies every year.

I would imagine that it will either be the last weekend of March, through the last weekend in April. I know that's a big time, but there's no way right now to know for sure. Adepticon just finished last night, and it'll be a few months of recovery for the staff before they really start sitting down and planning for next year.

I'm definitely looking to go next year. Never attended an Adepticon and I hear its the largest convention in the US in regards to wargaming.

How big are the events at GenCon? Adepticon's Team Tournament (I think) holds the honor of being the biggest single 40k event in the world. I think there were 496 players this year, and it would have easily exceeded 500 if it weren't for the weather making some folks miss it.

Adepticon 2015: Team Tourney Best Imperial Team- Team Ironguts, Adepticon 2014: Team Tourney 6th/120, Best Imperial Team- Cold Steel Mercs 2, 40k Championship Qualifier ~25/226

The events at GenCon are rather large, I don't think a single event beats out the 40k Championships, but just the sheer amount of wargaming going on at GenCon is almost mindboggling... I saw at least 700 people in the Event hall playing a few different games. Beasts of a different nature for sure, but I still believe GenCon > AdeptiCon when it comes to number of wargamers.

Though I'll give you that the Championships would probably win out in numbers for single event.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

They generally announce the dates in about 3 months, and tickets go on sale 3 months after that.

A few years ago Adepticon was at the end of March and it seems like it has been held a week later each year.

There is no "fixed" date for it (like the 3rd weekend in April) so it floats around. I believe it is because of the negotiations with the hotel.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

There are a few of us from New Zealand keen to attend in 2014 and as much notice of a confirmed date would be appreciated.

Thanks again
