Next up for me is a riptide. Too cool of a model not to have. So $90 later, here we are.

First image, there is a stealt suit next to it for scale.

Aaaand here is an update from last night. Hopefully I'll get some time to get some more work done on him today!

OSL is now complete, time to start brush work.

Brushwork complete enough to be table ready. More details will come to all of these once my army is fieldable.

And here are some table ready images. The base will be redone on all of these too, but this is playable.

I agree completely - too cool of a model not to have. So I have bought one as well, and only have the head left to put on. I wish you luck!

If it hasn't been fully assembled yet, I would recommend leaving the jump jets and even the arms off. It will make getting to all the little tight spots much easier.

Holy smokes! Thats the hottest riptide I've ever seen! Seriously... My pants are kind of tight... But really, how'd you do that awesome pattern on. His armor? Did you painstakingly tape it all off or is there a simpler method that I'm missing? Really great job!

A year and a half later it is probably better to just send a PM to the original poster...

I could have sworn I saw this model on CMON, only further developed with shield drones generating defense shields and such. It was on a wooden plaque-type base as well . . .

Right, because it's logical to assume people just keep posting stuff all over the place as time goes on.

Anyway, the image in the OP isn't the one I remember. This is the actual model I was looking at. It's not even a Riptide, hah. It was the small patterning on the armor that reminded me of it:

Yeah its a two year old post, maybe some of the newer members would like to see some AMAZING paint work without having to dig too far back. Every forums got one of you guys....

I appreciate the complement bean town. The model has since been rebased. (It needed it) but not to wood.

prehistoricUFO, do you think you could flag the images you posted as "spoilers"? While that is an amazing model, this thread was about my rip tide and honestly, the one you posted deserves a thread of it's own.

I was reluctant to post further images of it, as I was concerned about thread necromancy, and I wasn't sure if there was interest. This thread solves both of those problems, so I'll try to get a newer picture up soon.

Pardon the image quality. My camera tanked so I was reduced to using the phone. Here is the model on its new base.

Since this post has been upped. am I the only one who is wondering how did you get that pattern on the armour?

P.S. Does anybody know the author of the "shielded" tau commander?

An elaborate process involving an airbrush, fishing nets, spray adhesive, and time. Lots of time.
