Now, let me start by saying this isn't intended as a rant in any way, if it comes across that way, I apologize

I love Warhammer Fantasy, in fact I love it a lot more than Warhammer 40k, and I was ecstatic when Warhammer Forge was introduced, I currently own quite a few pieces from it, but I noticed something that has been happening for quite a while.

While both Forge World and Warhammer Forge releases have been at a slower pace recently, the Warhammer Forge ones have almost ground to a halt, the last Warhammer Forge release was on March 1st, and that was simply a set of Dwarf Command, not the most exciting set in the world, while the one before that was on February the 11th which was the Night Goblin Command, a better set than the Dwarfs IMHO but still not that much, in the same time there have been nine Forge World releases including huge Necron Fliers and board pieces

And I'm wondering why did Warhammer Forge come to a stop, of course I do expect more in the future, buy why such a slow rate? Does Warhammer Forge just not sell well? Is it harder to produce? I don't think it could be because there's less stuff to do, there's a whole wealth of ideas for large monsters and unusual units, as well as many creatures in Monsterous Arcanum, such as the Khemric Titan which never got made. Or is there some kind of event that is coming up which they might be saving upcoming model designs and releases for?

And on that subject, is there any such events where we might get a chance to see what is being made for Forge World and Warhammer Forge next any time soon?

Thank you enormously

Murdock

Ask me about Brushfire or Endless: Fantasy Tactics

Horus Heresy.

It really feels like that series has leeched the design teams away from Imperial Armour and Warhammer Forge, which is a crying shame.

I am still waiting for the Khemric Titan.

Get in line behind the Necrofex Colossus.

There are also a LOT more alternative models to use for what Warhammer Forge is trying to do. I love what they did with Chaos Dwarfs (except for the price ) making a stand-alone army list. But as for large monsters you'll rarely be allowed to use (i.e. everything else) I can't think that they're selling that well...

Probably a sales volume issue. You need so many models for regular infantry that the market for entire FW armies is much smaller than 40k, so that leaves the niche market of huge monsters and the occasional character. So they're probably just last in line for resources after Heresy and 40k releases. There is new stuff in progress though, take a look at the open day pictures.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Funnily enough, Forgeworld did say during the event they unveiled the Heresy stuff that the new series would not impact the Imperial Armour or Warhammer Forge products, and also said that the Monstrous Arcanum models would be out within a year of the books release. And for a while, they were on track. With all three. Then Heresy started getting more and more, and Warhammer Forge and Imperial armour slowed down.

It's pretty obvious they took people off those projects to move them to working on Heresy stuff, and I totally wouldn't have minded if they didn't, merely months before, say they wouldn't do that. Come on Forgeworld, you're better than that.

IIRC someone asked about that at this year's open day and the initial plan was to put out the Heresy stuff without any delays elsewhere, but demand was way more than they had anticipated. And, well, just follow the money. Heresy sells best, so Heresy is the top priority. 40k sells well, so make sure it gets some regular releases. Fantasy doesn't sell well, so deal with it whenever there's some spare time.

I think they were expecting: This will sell a lot of models and make us money.

What they got: Make more freaking HH gak now! We're printing money! We're literally printing money with resin and plastic molds! Woo Hoo!!!

That might be a paraphrase.
