So I have been away from Dakka for a while and in the mean time picked up some warmachine. I have gotten pretty good (IMHO) with eStryker so I plan on running him this weekend as one of my 2 casters. I haven't decided on the other yet but I have been doing well with Sloan recently, but I'm not 100% on the list build.

Sloan...obviously

Squire...what Cygnar list (minus n3mo) would be without one.

2 Hunters...long range support that can take out enemy jacks and can fire twice on feat turn.

Cyclone...its there for anti-infantry but with no way to ignore stealth I'm not 100% on it but it is in her battlegroup so it does get an extra shot. (Does it rapid fire with the out of activation shot? and how does the covering fire work druing its activation?)

Reinholdt...spyglass is handy early but giving sloan the 2nd WM shot (3 on feat turn) is the main reason for the gobber

ATGM, UA...Main force for countering stealth and for some objective control.

Defender on the ATGM...while it looses out on not ignoring stealth it gains the rune shots...so crit brutal or becomes a 20" shot

Now for the iffy part. I'm left with 7pts left over and I don't want an Ironclad as it has no synergy and a Lancer while helpful doesn't seem to help me too much here.

I went for a journeyman with a charger. I've always liked chargers but they are very focus heavy so I wasn't sure, but he seems to be an easy way to get the focus. Plus it brings in AS if something bad happens to his jack.

All in all it should deal with most infantry lists well, but I'm worried if I hit a fast moving circle or menoth list that can get up to me too fast. Also collasals or gargantuans will be a big problem as I doubt the hunters, defender, and charger can bring it down before they get toasted. Even if they do then any other jacks will be at my lines undamaged.

Any ideas?

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

You are really going to be hurting in the area of slowing down the enemy. That is quite a few jacks to be relying on and if you face an infantry heavy list honest you are going to have trouble with 2 hunters.

Remember hunters only add +2 to damage rolls against small bases. What happens when you face an army with only 1 heavy and a single light jack?

I really recommend picking up Boomhowler & Co. With Murdoch. I would look at a list like this perhaps.

System: Warmachine
Faction: Cygnar
Casters: 1/1
Points: 42/42
Captain Kara Sloan (*6pts)
* Hunter (6pts)
* Defender (9pts)
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
* Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer (2pts)
* * Cyclone (9pts)
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
* Captain Jonas Murdoch (2pts)
Captain Arlan Strangewayes (2pts)
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution (3pts)
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist (2pts)
Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator (1pts)

You need a unit that can jam forward. A lot of mistakes people make with Kara is that they sit back and try to shoot things to death. The problem with that is it doesn't work very well because once they make it to you and they will if you have nothing to clog up lanes is you are dead. Boomhowler & Co. w/ Murdoch give you a unit that is a nightmare to deal with and can really put some hurt on things with the Assault order from Murdoch. Go to Ground allows you to get them out of LoS of your own models on feat turn.

Kara is kinda focus greedy not on the level of say eCaine but she isn't willing to just give focus. Arlan is there to get close to jacks that need a focus and the Hunter can do work by itself with extended control range. Cyclone is really only there for board control and with being marshaled to the ATGM you can get some thunderbolts in there to push things back and lay down templates as needed.

Gorman is excellent at creating problems for the opponent. He has stealth and so can reliable move around the board without too much worry. Eiryss is Eiryss and that is really all that needs to be said about her.

Again this is just my opinion. I don't really play Sloan but based on what I have learned playing Cygnar and playing shooter heavy lists I have found these things to be absolutely crucial.
