I've been considering starting a Chaos army for 40k for years and even though there have been aspects that I've been interested in the rules and the models never really interested me that much. Then they updated the codex and brought out the cultists. They instantly caught my eye when the Dark Vengeance set came out. I was dissappointed that they were not selling a separate cultist box. Then they made that small box of 5 and now I've finally started this project. I will be building an army out of cultist with some tanks as back up.

The plan is to use the actual GW cultist models because I love em.

I will make modifications on them to make them look more individual. Adding pouches, grenades, trophies, modify the weapons or whatever I can think of to create some difference between the models that look the same. Just like this one with a shield.

Or this Champion I made out of my personal favorite of the five models.

And because I did not want an ordinary HQ choice straight out of the CSM model range I will be converting this one as a Dark Apostle.

I hope you'll have fun seeing what I end up doing with all these. There will be tanks later on and alot more cultists (surprise). The dark vengeance cultists will appear into the collection at some point also. At least that is the plan.

After a very long excavation into my bitbox along with a lot of planning and thinking I started working on the Apostle. A few parts I could just attach right away and she now looks like this.

She still requires a lot of work. The staff will be converted to a power maul when I get that far and green stuff will be used to add more armor. Some wiring would make it look more like a power armor also. I'll see what I can do about it. I'm also looking to add variation to the cultists at the same time and the first color scheme prototype for the cultists is on it's way.

I've made some progress with my first melee squad. Mainly been swapping weapons for the cultists at the moment. Keeping it simple for the moment.

The picture quality isn't that good because the camera didn't obviously like me very much but the photos are still usable.

I also tried to make a melee cultist out of an autogun cultist to make two usable ten man squads from four boxes of cultists and the result was this:

I'm actually quite happy how he turned out. I cut the gun's barrel off and just added the tip of the barrel to a proper place and the pistol was done. The arm is a cut up catachan arm. It fits there quite well.

There is a flamer in the squad also and this was my take on it. Could've been better but I'll propably be making more in the future but they will all look different.

That's it this time but more is on it's way.

Nice and simple conversions on the Cultists! I rather like how simple the Autogun to Autopistol modification went. Watch out for moulder lines though (Catachan knife).

I've been working on the colorscheme for these guys and I finally came up with one that I was satisfied with. The first model is still unfinished but the main colorscheme is there already (without details that is).

I want my cultists to look unified with the colorscheme but other than that it doesn't matter really.

Now I just need to figure out how to paint this one:

These guys need the heavy support or else they wont do a thing to enemy vehicles.

I was considering of converting a cultist to be the tank commander but I ended up not doing so. Perhaps with the next Predator.

Time for a little update. I've started the greenstuff work on the Apostle. At the moment she looks like this.

I'm quite happy with maul actually.

The greenstuff on her legs is still very undone and require a lot more work. They will be armor plating and there will be some more there but I need to finish what there is already and then figure out how to make the rest look good. And I am not that good or experienced with greenstuff. I hope I can make it look decent.

That Dark Apostle is nifty it's really working. For painting vehicles coloured spray paint is your friend.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
