Hey guys, I need a little help here. I'm intending on adding approx. 500-750 points of allied Chaos Space Marines to my existing armies... a mini-army if you will.

I want to use the new Anvil Industries Black Ops Exo-Lords to represent my Alpha Legion. It seems like the Alpha Legion would be the stealth, black ops commandoes of the Space Marine world.

In very general terms, I'm thinking of this...

Chaos Lord (very basic, maybe a power sword or something, maybe a special ranged weapon, would hang out with the chosen)

10 man Tactical Squad equivalent w/heavy bolter.

20 Man Cultists (using the models from Dark Vengeance)

5 man havoc w/2 autocannons and 2 flakk missile lauchers

5+ chosen w/combi-weapons

I don't have specfic points costs or a list yet because I'm trying to decide if the above is viable as an army core. What else would I add? Do the regular marines need a Rhino, etc?

I play mostly casual games where the primary goal is fun, not victory. I'm looking for a fluffy, "we went to Chaos in order to support the emperor" kind of Alpha Legion. That means I'm trying to avoid anything overtly Chaos like a Heldrake or Possessed. I want a sort of Black Ops, we put up with this Chaos nonsense because it's the best way of achieving the Emperor's goals kind of vibe.

Also, would I be better off using the regular Space Marine codex and replacing the Lord with a Captain and the Chosen with Sternguard?

First off, Chosen lost infiltrate and by extension outflanking in a rhino.

So you need to make your Lord into Huron who will grant D3 units with infiltrate.

I recommend:

Allied CSM: 500pts

Huron-160 attached to unit below.

CSM+15, MoS, IoE, Trade Bolter for CCW, Pow Fist champ (might die in a challenge), 2 Melta Guns (its Assault)-385

Total 545

You could drop a few bodies, because I think the special weapons are essential. Other wise I would just have no special weapons so take away PF, and the 2 Meltaguns which is 45pts and then you have a body of 20 I5, FNP, 2A (from ccw+pistol) 18" away from the enemy turn 1.

If you want infiltrating marines you can take scouts.

I was under the impression that Huron had to be the overall warlord to get his warlord trait.

He does, so CSM allies can't outflank anymore

Infiltrating Broodlord

Oklahoma City

1x Chaos Lord with Jump pack and dual lightning claws

20x cultists with 2x Flamer or 2x Stubber

11x Chaos Raptors, Champ with Pow fist/lightning claws, MoN and two meltaguns in the squad

Alpha Legion seems like dudes who want as few of their men in the fight to get killed, manipulating screaming fanatics to sit on the back table edge or charge the enemy mindlessly seems right up their alley, while your Raptor force is quite the can opener all rounder specialist Swiss Army knife. DS in, slag a tank, eat a charge while over watching, proceed to wreck TEQ with the PF or wreck MEQ with the claws. Doesn't really matter which of your leaders challenges, if it's a TEQ, it should be the Raptor, just to be sure you take him out.

Having a home objective blob and a Swiss Army knife like this little raptor bomb is useful for every army. If you want to get even more elite and more special weapons to the table, drop one raptor for combiweapons on the Lord and champion.

For real?

I can not believe I am so wrong.

Well there is always IG Creed. Then you can sneak a Titan.
