atm I've got 1500pts worth of stuff roughly

Shadowsun with 2 bodyguards equiped with plasma rifles, fusion and a single airburst

3 crisis suits with tl plasma and fusion

3 squads of 12 FW

2 squads of 8 pathfinders

2 hammerheads with sub

1 Riptide with ion accelerator

that leaves me with about 105pts to spend but I can't quite decide what I really need of these three.

-Longstrike for a hammerhead
-A cadre fireblade for more shooting
-Shasui for all squads


Did think of the ethereal but the victory point thing put me off.

I like longstrike or the fireblade for your list.
Then again, I'm one of those people that generally goes against what most people would do, so I would probably find points for some vespid

15 Sniper Kroot.

Sniper kroot is always good. Infiltrate as close as you legally can and snipe away (forest if you can, but not mandatory that free round of 15 Precision shots is more important). If you can snipe out a big gun or an important character, thats one hell of a victory.

Honestly the Longstrike upgrade isnt mandatory unless youre against IG. There isnt much AV14 youre going to find that hides in the back corner except for IG (if any) and thats the AV14 tau have issues with. Granting tankhunter as well as (basically) twinlinking your railhead vs IG is awesome.
45pts for BS5 against all other races. Vehicles cannot get Skyfire so like hes firing at fliers (unless youre desperate) and the rest of the armor you'd ever come across can be EASILY dispatched by fusioned crisis suits or the Riptides.

The problem here is that a you can get the same volume of fire as a full sized Vespid unit from a Plasma Crisis Team, only plasma suits will be effective against terminators and such also. You literally NEED a Strain Leader, and that alone means that, with 5 models, you've used up that spare 100 points. 5 S5 AP3 shots aren't going to handle your marine problems.

Vespids earn my "most useless model" vote in the tau dex. The ONLY upside they have to crisis teams since they lack the cheapness for same amount of shots is they use FA slots not Elites. If Vespids were 1/3 cheaper, i'd consider using them. Or if they were same cost but had 2 shots and a 24" range i'd use them. As they are, im not even buying the models just to say i have some theyre so bad.
