Hello Fungusblue. Welcome to Dakka.

The first thing you'll want to pick up is a copy of the 6th edition rulebook and the Spacewolf Codex. It may be cheaper to pick up the paperback rulebook from ebay (which has the same rules content, but is smaller). You'll need two troops choices and an HQ choice to have a legal army, so a couple of boxes of grey hunters are a good place to start. From there, buy what you like.

Ebay can be a good way of buying models for cheap, if you don't mind being patient. A lot of models will come with a previous owner's paintjob, but this can be fixed by putting them into some acetone free nailpolish remover for about 10 minutes and giving them a scrub with an old toothbrush.

I'm not a frequent user of Dakka, so I can't say for sure how much stuff they have for Space Wolves players, but if you can't find what you're looking for here, Bolter and Chainsword is very helpful for power armoured armies.

Hope this helps.

I would like to pose my own philosophy, which seems to run counter to everyone else's.
Take a look at the coolest models in your army, and decide what you like the best. Buy some.
Paint them. Try and get a copy of the rules or at least the army list you want and then start to put together how you want your army to be.
This is a recreational game, and so I would suggest a certain leisurely approach to it. It's not a job. It's not work. There is no set way that you have to do it. Do it in the way that you have the most fun.

Welcome! Be wary of any site offering forgeworld at a discount, it is often not legitimate. It's also expensive no matter where you get it, so if you're 17 you might want to start with a different company's models (there are lots of alternatives to GW).

Welcome! I agree with starting with the models that look like the most fun to paint. That will let you maintain a high level of interest.

May the dice be with you!
