So there is an thread going on "What anime have you been watching Recently?" as I think it goes, so I was wondering if guys are reading any mangas at this current time, and what you are planning to read in the future?

For me, this is what I have currently going on:
Berserk (almost caught up on it, just about 80 chapters left to go)
Shinji Ikari Raising Project (on hold until I can get more of the Books when I start up my job again with buying models as well)
Manga Adaptation of Neon Genesis Evangelion (just the End of Evangelion Part, I want to see how it goes)

What I want to plan to read:
Akria
Evangelion Re-take
Full Metal Panic!

I'm not a big manga guy, and really dislike anything that's "super Japanese", but I've started reading I am a Hero and it looks promising, if extremely dark.

Tried reading Highschool of the Dead which was pretty good until fanservice reached critical levels (oh god the boob physics in the show were ridiculous) Was really sad about that because the idea of seeing how Japanese people would deal with a zombie outbreak was really intriguing.

Other than that nothing really. I like stuff more like Cowboy Beebop and I don't know of many manga like that. I always liked more gritty SciFi and the super robot stuff you see in most manga/anime was always a big turn off for me.

There is one I'm looking for and if anybody knows the name please tell me. It was about a Japanese military unit dealing with an outbreak of mythological creatures and it looked pretty funny. Saw a page from it on a forum where some guys in a humvee were running from a dragon and it gave me a good laugh.

If you like "I am a hero" due to its Darkness, I say give Berserk a try, as that gets pretty dark and Gruesome if you are into the fantasy setting and/or do not mind it.

As to the HOTD, yeah the Fanservice is a bit too much in the show, so Fanservice is fine, too much ruins it. As for the "Super Japanese" kind of ordeal, I can understand what you mean to a point, as I kind of get sick of the Cutesy-Moeblob stuff that is coming out in the Manga/anime Market today, Guess how I view anime/manga is like any other forms and medium, if it is an interest to me, I will give it a try and I tend to be open about anything really (although I tend to lean towards Grimdark things, I am open to lighthearted things as well if it is not to overbearing on cutesy and that).

Also, there is a Cowboy Bebop as a manga called Shooting Start as well, if you where looking for that a bit.
