I've recently had the urge to get a few of my older models painted up with new brushes and new paints. Starting simple (he's really only half a guy) I've done this guy up as a test model:

His flesh is a bit to... alive.
I think he should be a bit more pale.

Noted, I tried to bring out bruising around his eyes (purple wash under the eyes) and blood dripping from nose, some dried vomit on mouth etc as marks of plague but didnt know how to bring it to the skin itself, would moving up a step in flesh colour work or would that end up in too bright flesh? Other way I could go is into more of a beige flesh tone for greying paling skin?

The purple around the eyes REALLY helped and looks very sunken in, and i love it.

I don't think upsteping one more time would be a good idea otherwise he will look like a risen saint , i think a dark eldar like paled flesh would look better for a zombi. Also perhaps a thin layer of the earth color you used on the top portions of the model and or a good dusting of weathering powder i think would make it look he crawled up from the grave instead of him looking like he fell into a hole

Your technique is good, but its your colour choice that seems to be the issue. For someone crawling out of a grave he looks too healthy. Maybe adding some grey to the mix will help give his skin a more pallid and unhealthy complexion.

CHeers guys, I'll be doing various stages of decay when I pick up my new kits so it'll give me a wide scope of flesh tone to explore (vibrant, rotting, pale etc). As far aspainting projects go I'm excited about the potential with the injuries, rot, warts etc adding more detail to every model.

I thought you meant a CANADIAN Zombie. (is that a staple joke around here?) Still. I like it. Pale him up. He looks like someone hiding in a grave tactically.

If it's creed then the reason you can only see half of him is the fact he's actually tank commanding a baneblade thats down there with him.

On topic, general consensus seems to be grey out the skin to make it look better, looking on trying to add more wear and tear to equipment aswell.
