Hi again,
Today's highlights are from a game last Sunday (three days = details are fuzzy) As with my previous post. I steer clear of the tactical-schmatical stuff and I wasn't involved in the game personally only for documentary purposes. It was a fun game and involves the new Tau codex in play. Basically my disclaimer is this: If you are looking for tactical genius--look elsewhere. For all others, please continue.
The Scenario and Deployment were Purge the Alien with Vanguard Strike. Dark Eldar won the roll off for Deploying 1st.
Armies were basically:
Dark Eldar
Archon, djin blade + shadow field
3 Incubi
Venom w/ extra splinter cannon, retrofire jets & shadow field
30 Warriors w/ 3 Raiders with splinter racks, flicker sheild and night shield
Razor wing jet fighter w/ siditagrater cannons, splinter cannon, night shield and flicker shield
Tau
Commander Suit w/ twinlinked fusion blaster, drone controller, com&control mode, multi spectrum sensor suit + something i don't remember
Sniper drone team + 6 drones
hammerhead w/ longstrike , submunition, smart missile system, disruption pod, seeker missile
2 devilfish w/ smart missile system, disruption pod, point defense target relay, seeker missile
24 firewarriors
ethereal w/ no upgrades
(Basic Deployments)
Turn 1
Dark Eldar
(Dark Eldar moved away from the shooty-bits except for the venom)
(Still has line of sight for some of the Tau)
(Venom moved up and fired all weapons at the sniper drone squad/
HQ)
(
HQ failed "Look Out Sir!"s and rolled double 1's on armor saves...the Dark Eldar player is pleased as evidenced by this photo)
Tau
(Tau retaliate by blowing up the Venom.)
(Then Tau move on to the visible Raider)
Turn 2
Dark Eldar
Fails to bring in flyer

(Archon and Incubus move up to engage Tau Firewarriors and recklessly declare an assault. This resulted in over 50 shots and causing the Dark Eldar player to become befuddled as to whose phase/turn it was.)
(Assault was successfully achieved after sacrificing his compadres. Archon then declared a challenge to the ethereal. Cmdr Hindsight weighed the pros and cons of allowing his ethereal to actually fight in
cc and deemed it detrimental to the greater good.)
(Said ethereal was later seen pushing firewarriors out of the way as he scampered behind the wall of unskilled, foot soldiers as well as a literal wall.)
Side note:
(Surviving Raider now creeping up and hiding behind the forest. Cmdr Hindsight knows nothing of its approach...)
Tau
(Anticipating a flyer coming in, the Tau skimmers rub butts to prevent an attack from behind)
(With no Incubi or Archon to target, the Tau focus on the next threat: the Raider which moved up to the same spot the Venom met its doom).
(3 pens from Smart Missile System)
Also, Tau Fire warriors successfully defeat the mighty Archon, cheered on by their cowardly, but very much alive, ethereal.
Turn 3
Dark Eldar
(Flyer yet again fails to come in...epic-ly)
(Death to the
HQ and Spotter by the surviving warriors camped out in the ruins)
Tau
(Tau destroy the approaching Raider now seeing that it is close enough for harm).
Turn 4
Dark Eldar
(Flyer appears! Unable to successfully destroy the Hammerhead.)
Tau
(Mad dash by all tau vehicles towards the flyer in hopes of being overshot if the game continues.)
(Hammerhead gets a 6 on hit and causes the flyer to wreck)
(Crashes and burns on top of the Hammerhead, but fails to inflict damage).
Turn 5
Dark Eldar player attempts to commit model suicide by jumping his remaining models off buildings etc...denying the Tau sweet and total victory.
