Just a quick question to appease my mind..........

Will GW / BLACK LIBRARY ever updating the 40k world? I mean will we get new stories and updates the the timeline ? bringing back primarchs? new races? new models? new wars? new crusades? etc. thanks

I have heard that they won't be progressing it anymore from here, significantly, as this is the time of ending, and everything is coming together for the end of life, which means the end of chaos etc. Not 100% on this, but yeah, story is left hanging on the balance.

Well they have in small ways (Tau etc)

But no not in the way you're hoping probably.

Updates do happen. Just look at the wargear the Tau are using now.

As for the story and boundaries in the war Choas, etc. That's unlikely. It's stayed the same since RT, and will probably stay that way forever.
Apart from the odd Squatting, of course.

As many have said before me, 40k is not a story.

40k is a setting.

At this point, the "story" can go wherever we want it to as players meaning your meta can hold a giant campaign tournament and give it a story involving the battle to end all the galaxy. And that would be okay, because it will never actually happen officially. Once in a while GW will advance something, like they will run a campaign that will decide how a certain fluff piece is written, but they haven't done that in a while...

I kind of wish they'd just keep the setting for the game stationary (or moving slowly as it is now) but then progress the story in Black Library for the fans of the novels.

There's 10000 years of 'history' in between the Heresy and the 'current time' that can be explored before the story needs to advance any further...
