During my last game vs Necrons the opposing player used Obyron's Ghostwalk Mantle to teleport himself away while holding the Relic. I know models aren't allowed to move more than 6" while holding the Relic, does the Mantle offer a way around this, as the way I see it, he's not really moving, rather he's redeploying I believe, as the Mantle uses Deep Strike rules AFAIK. It didn't really make much a difference as I still caught up and got the Relic back but can someone clarify this in case it comes up in the future?

Really? Would you like to justify your stance?

At the minute you're only providing baseless assertions.

Iranna.

Edit: I can't type.

From the most recent BRB FAQ (http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m3170233a_40K_RULEBOOK_v1.4_APRIL13.pdf)

Page 131 – The Relic, Dropping the Relic
Change the second sentence of the first paragraph to “If the
model falls back, the Relic is dropped automatically before
the model performs its Fall Back move. If the model is
removed as a casualty, or is in any other way removed from
the table – whether voluntarily or otherwise – the Relic is
dropped automatically and placed within 1” of the spot
where the model last was before it left the table. Note that
embarking onto a Transport is an exception to this, as
detailed below.”

Thus, when you remove Oby and his unit from the table, he'd drop the Relic.

More importantly, he'd drop the relic within 1" of where he was at the moment he elected to teleport away.

That rule update is to prevent things like a night scythe from picking up the unit with the relic, purposely flying 6" (and therefore crashing) and having the unit go into ongoing reserves.
